I dont get the grand mom comparison, anyone can run 26.2 miles, does that make Kipchoge unimpressive? anyone can run 100 meters, does that make Bolt unimpressive?

Wait he was DQ'd for what!? How does that happen. Is there a race report somewhere?
He was disqualified for having an athlete from the junior Ugandan team coming onto the course midway and pacing him. I don't know what technical rule that is or whether pacing in a mountain race really does anything. The Americans had video footage of this, last over a minute from when they actually started recording, of the incident and made a case of it. There was also a lot of jostling and pushing by the Ugandans onto Gray.

Joe ran really well. He was maybe 5 m off of the Ugandan guy who got DQd for getting paced.
There are some former trackies/xc internationals in mountain running, but they can still get thrashed by skimos, nordic skiiers, cyclists, and biathletes- it's a pretty broad spectrum of endurance athletes. Being a good runner helps, but it's not going to get you the win in this sport.
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
