Assuming you'd use van Niekerk, I'd say like 44 high. He went 20.5, 22.5 in Rio so he could definitely do 22.5, less than 22.5. What do y'all think?

Negative and even splitting is faster than positive splitting. Whatever he ran with positive splitting, he could run faster with the other styles.

And yet EVERY world class 400m runner and their coaches all seem to disagree with you. Strange that.

when John Smith set the world 440y record at 44.5, he split 22.2/22.3, so not quite a negative split. Assuming
1) he could have split 22.3/22.2 and it would not have made a difference in the final time
2) the conversion from 440 yards to 400 meters is 0.3 seconds
then 44.2 or better should be possible.
