I updated the 2nd post to reflect the Cuse held out their top 2 men.
It's only impressive if the 13:55 was in trainers.
So no self righteous talk this year about doing it with local kids.
The Cuse held out their top 2 guys (Bennie and Knight) and still crushed everyone today at Penn State (of course the field wasn't that loaded and Gtown may have held out thir top 5) as their 13:55 transfer from Lamar via Italy (and maybe Morocco Tilastapaja says he was Moroccan at one point - was he born there?) got the win.http://cuse.com/news/2016/9/10/cross-country-men-win-harry-groves-spiked-shoe-invitational.aspx?path=ccountry
Cuse.com wrote:
The Syracuse men placed seven runners in the top-14, including the meet's individual champion Iliass Aouani, who was competing in his Syracuse debut, to highlight the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational for the Orange.
In addition to the men's win, the women's team placed third, with freshman Madeleine Davison reaching the podium with a third place finish overall.
Behind Aouani, who crossed the line in 26:17.1, Philo Germano (26:24.5) and Joel Hubbard (26:25.3) finished in second and third respectively. Kevin James (6th.26:38.3) and TJ Hornberger (7th/26:40.9) rounded out the scoring, while Shawn Wilson and Griff Molino finished ninth and 14th respectively to round out Syracuse's top-seven.
The Orange's 19 points claimed the meet by a wide margin over second place Cornell (67). Georgetown (90), Lehigh (125), Penn State (146), St. Joseph's (157), Rutgers (175), Princeton (211) and Grove City (273) made up the team scores for the men.
"Aouani" definitely seems like a North African name and not Italian.
I don't know, NAU looked mighty impressive in Indiana today crushing #18 Michigan and scoring only 18 points on their way to the victory. Even more impressive, they did it without their top 2 guys in Futsum Z. and Tyler Day.
I don't see Palomar in the results for Syracuse- he ran 13:59 5000m in April, so I'm guessing he might be in the top 7 and also was held out of the race.
I'm sure Georgetown didn't run a lot of top guys- and there are many very strong teams in the West too- I don't know who will win but it will be a great season to watch.
Kevin James is a RS Frosh that gets zero respect.
He's the King of Queens baby!!
Syracuse did win the NCAA tittle last year with all 7 guys originating from 5 hours of campus. I
I know it's early in the season, but those times are really slow. Tough course?

Spiked Shoe is 5.2 miles. The paces next to the times are correct. Winning time would be like 25 low if actually 5 miles. I believe it is a tough course as well. Never ran it though.
A word from inside the Georgetown camp mentioned the pace was quite slow through the early stages of the race. Weather didn't appear to the best either
Local kids as in the Northeast, that place with 90 million people.
was there today. for the guys race at 10:45 it was around 90 and sunny, really humid. i think the splits were 5:06, 10:23, 15:32, 20:20 for the front guys at 1-4 miles. so super slow goin out. course is 5.2 miles, as well (8.4k), with the last mile pretty much all uphill.
Wow! You know a guy inside the Georgetown camp? That's pretty cool.
