If she breaks the 5k AR and you could argue that she's the greatest American female middle distance runner of all time. She would own the AR in the 1500, 2mile and 5k. Also, has there any female before who's owned the AR in the 1500 and 5k at the same time?
Plus the 10000m record.

Yes! I'm pretty sure Mary Decker Slaney held every American record from the 800 to 10,000 in 1985. In 1982, she set six world records, including the 5000.
Her last big AR, the 1500, stood until last year. She still has the AR in the mile, 2000 and 3000. Only one American, Jearl Miles-Clark has run a faster 800.
It was a different era, in more ways than one.[/quote]

Cool! Thanks for letting us know about SR. And congratulations on this year's field. Even without Rowbury, it's an intriguing group, with lots of story lines. It's going to be fun to see how it turns out.
Simpson is paying Rowbury not to show up so she can win.
Does anyone know if it will be televised this year? There's nothing about it on the website, so I assume not.

She might want to go on vacation who knows.
Money could easily be a factor.
The NYRR is having a bunch of US medallists there and with an appearance fee for them, there might not be any money left for an appearance fee for Shannon.
Shannon preferred to stay on the track and run the 5000m in Brussels. It didn't make sense to fly to NYC then turn around and go back to Europe.
Also, Nick Willis decided to end his season and attend a family reunion.

Great news to hear that Shannon is going to run the 5k in Brussels.

My goodness, I didn't realize that there are so many very young fans posting on the LRC forums!

Good to see you back on the boards. I'll repeat the question about moving the race to Labor Day weekend - can you shed light on that decision?

It's hilarious that someone actually asked you your source...but even more hilarious that you answered that way. Nice job on the field!
She didn't have any clean thongs to wear.
