To be a fan these days puts me in the position of cheering for some athletes who are not clean, even if it has not been proved.

I'm near the point where I conclude almost no one is clean. Komen, El G, Beleke, Geb, Lagat, Coe, Ovett, Cram, going back. Morceli, Who knows? Cento, Rupp, Mo, and on and on.

In conclusion, I feel cynical about the sport and I don't care as much.

But I still care to some degree, it's still a thrill to see the best go at it.

I'm fine with them using the descending order list for 5000 and down, as long as everyone knows that's what it's going to be ahead of time. For the 10000 it really needs to be a trials race as there are so few opportunities to run a fast 10. For the marathon it HAS to be selectors. There is just too much variability race to race.

Pretty much how I feel.

Yeah, sure, I'm sure there are plenty of doped runners out there who haven't been caught yet (maybe even the majority), but we don't really have proof of that (if we did, they would obviously be caught), so everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Just like how the rest of the justice system works.

It's easy to be cynical, and perhaps I am cynical like you, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying the great runners now, and the great runners of yesteryear (Geb, Bekele, El Guerrouj, yes even Komen).

7:30 is 60-second per lap pace, right? That's f-ing BOOKING.

Mate, I have traveled around the world. If you knew anything about the Ethiopians you would know that they train at various altitudes, many (in the past have exploited the live high train low concept) have traveled to altitudes lower than Addis Ababa, which going by the rules of geography, are places that are significantly hotter. I'm not sure that he is necessarily from Addis Ababa, but I presume that he is based there.

Bang on Rojo. On the other thread (were somebody miss spelt his name) yesterday I said that Kejelcha was most likely to beat Mo over 5k in Rio, and he wasn't there! If he continues to improve like this he is my favorite for gold in the 5k in London next year.

Sorry, thought you were referring to the thread topic of the 3k, and I did think the 1,000 was rather pointless as well even if he broke the wr.

What??? I think you have the wrong thread. If you read above I was questioned about my comment that I think an Ethiopian could handle 82°f (27.7°c), and somebody pasted a link to Addis Ababa's ave. temperatures. I have no evidence to conclude he comes from there.
