Can anyone give some more color on the race? Looks like Dartmouth and Columbia were at the top mid-race but faded hard (from what I saw of the 3m split)

Looks like a triple crown is in the offing for the H women. Don't think anyone can touch them in t&f.
Wow Harvard men are bad
This thread is so dead. We just saw a dominating performance by the Harvard women and Penn men and no one has anything to say about it.
I believe that the Harvard women's and men's xc squads have different coaches--is that right?
If so, something needs to change on the men's side. That was just terrible--I felt bad for those guys, and I'm no Harvard fan. Being subjected to that kind of humbling (as a group--six out of the last seven places--and as individuals) is sad.
Well, at least the weather was nice.

My God, who are all these Harvard freshman girls?! THREE of 'em top ten, and then two more mid-pack, for good measure.
That's a scary team in another couple years.
One more steps up (or one more really good recruit), and they might be national contenders, even next year.
Aislinn Devlin (Downingtown West) and Anna Juul (Unionville, same as Courtney Smith) have both announced they'll be at Harvard next year.
http://pa.milesplit.com/articles/194089/aislinn-devlin-and-anna-juul-headed-to-harvardSince the posting of that, they went 1-2 at PA District 1 on Friday in 17:12 and 17:40, respectively. Devlin was also 9th at NXN last year as a junior.
To be honest... wrote:

Saretsky coaches the men. Wales-Dinan the women. Saretsky is also the director of the whole tf/xc program. Saretsky was also the coach for Chenoweth, Leakos, and Korolev these last few years - good but inconsistent runners while at Harvard.
It is sad to see that four of the Harvard men (including their final scorer) were the final four of the competition. They say "the team is young" and "the freshmen are adapting to the college regimen", but if the women have 3 of their scorers being freshmen, there is definitely something off. Recruiting perhaps? The women are getting in stellar athletes, likely due to the recent dominance in the track seasons but also something the recruiters are saying... why can't they use the same thing for the men? I wonder how many they are losing to other schools (Ivy and non-Ivy).
Congrats to Randon, Smith, Harvard women, and Penn men on their wins.
I doubt the team win will boost the Penn men in the national polls or chances in making it to NCAAs, but I think the Harvard women could jump up to #2 in the NE region and around #20 nationally since they won rather convincingly over Yale and Penn (both who where ranked higher than them going into Heps). Anyone familiar enough with all of the Kolas points on what is needed to make the cut (besides the obvious top 2 in the region)?
Some very, very sad news to report.
Yale junior Hale Ross, who competed at Heps last weekend, has died.

A defensive lineman in HS, he walked on to the Yale team and was their 7th man on Friday.
Article states that there "is no indication of an accident or foul play."
A funeral will be in Washington, DC on Friday.
Wow. My condolences to the Yale program. How terrible.

that's terrible - all sympathy to the family and friends
Have you just started paying attention to the league this year?
You don't have to recruit for Harvard. It's Harvard. The name recognition does it for you.
It took me 5 minutes to look up the HS pbs of their finishers at Heps. Here they are.
Kieran Tuntivate - 4:11/9:06
Brandon Price - 4:15/9:13
Murimi Nyamu - 8:26 3k/14:37 5k in HS.
Will Battershill - 8:25 3k/9:06 steeple in HS.
Tyler Spear - 8:32/9:10 in HS.
Nick Linder - 1:53/4:14/9:13
Samuel Oh - 4:15/9:18
Kaeo Kruse - 9:11
Gabe Montague - 4:14/9:17
Collin Price - 9:00.00
Louis Colson - 4:14/8:22 3k.
So they have five 9:00-910 guys, and six 9:10-9:20 guys. Other teams probably have more but no way they should be last by a ton.
You have to think about why a guy would choose to go to Harvard when they could go to a much better program like Princeton. One reason - name recognition. They likely don't care about as much as track/xc or they'd go to Princeton (or they aren't good enough for Princeton to recruit them).
So you get guys going through the motions a lot at Harvard. That doesn't turn out so well. Wasn't there some article saying they'd only been in the top half of the league once in like 20 years? Don't blame the coach - the coaches have changed - blame the institution.
Women's running is different. You can be good enough in HS to be good in the Ivy League, particularly if you are unhealthy. For boys, unless you are a top 10 national recruit, you have to improve - a lot. So you need to be into it.
Speaking of which,... what the hell happened to Korolev?
He had an awesome senior XC season, with an awesome finish, then didn't do much the rest of the year, then graduated, then had a really impressive performance in a road race (not quite remembering what race right now), then made the World Cross team but didn't run too great at the meet,... and then,...
nothing.
That's what I hate about this freaking sport. There's no information.
It's impossible to follow most of the guys you'd like to root for.
Hell, it's impossible to even get a tiny bit of info about them, in most cases.
How about the Rosa brothers? Two guys with the talent to be really, really good. Not a word about either since last year. I have to assume they probably both decided to hang it up (which is sad as hell), but it would be nice to at least know what the deal is.
Someone should do this for every team. It'd be interesting to see what these coaches are working with and how they performed.
Wasnt a Yale runner killed yesterday?

Died of what?
The Yale paper has a much longer story out on Ross in today's print edition.

The cause of death isn't mentioned. It does say, "Ross was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital Sunday evening, according to Calhoun Head of College Julia Adams."

If all goes right we should see a few Ivy teams punch their tickets to Terra Haute this weekend, no?
