Yale basketball makes the NCAA tournament and wins Round 1.
Kate Grace wins USAs and makes Olympic 800m final.
2016 is the year for the Bulldogs..
(But I just saw that the NYC marathon and Heps are different weekends this year. Aren't they always the same weekend?)

Princeton men have a very deep freshman class
-
In fact, flotrack ranked Princeton men's incoming class as the number 2 distance class in the country which is pretty impressive. Will be interesting to see what Vig does with them and to see who can make an early impact at Heps
-
I just noticed on Harvard's XC roster that they only have one senior man and one senior woman. Though the T&F results have been strong over the past few years, admittedly with a sprints/hurdles backbone, isn't it odd to have so few Seniors within the distance team.

Princeton does a wonderful of recruiting, on both the men's and women's sides. The name recognition is there, as it is for Harvard. (NOTE that Yale has virtually the same number of undergrads as Princeton and probably as much name recognition--but I understand that there are institutional restraints on athletics at Yale.)
TBH I don't see how any Ivy other than those two (Princeton/Harvard) manages to win a Heps. Probably "shouldn't" happen. -

I might be mistaken, but Harvard may have only had only one or two distance men competing last year too.
As for the Crimson women, they've been ranked high nationally in several preseason polls, despite having only one senior listed on their roster. They have a bright future ahead -
Just curious, what institutional restraints does Yale have?
-
Anyone have any early predictions for men's team results? Assuming it comes down to Penn Cornell Princeton Columbia?
-
Actually, now looking at last years Heps results, Yale has some very good runners left from last year's team. Wonder if they can wind up being the favorites.
-
Pretty quiet opening weekend.
Actually, things have been quiet on all fronts, not just cross-country. I'll admit that I haven't done a thorough search, but has *any* Ivy listed its newcomers (for t&f as well as xc) yet? I'm just not hearing the kind of (genteel) noise that I'm used to, at the beginning of a new school year...
Could this be in response to some new NCAA/Ivy rule? By now I really would have expected the Heps schools to have started crowing about their rookies. -
Most of the schools did their typical incoming class announcements, which spanned from the late spring and throughout the summer.

Link to Princeton's incoming freshmen class on the men's side. Very deep class:

This link doesn't include any outdoor PRs as the incoming class was announced in February.

Cornell FINALLY announced their freshmen class... well, the men's anyways:
Men - http://cornellbigred.com/news/2016/9/14/mens-track-field-mens-track-and-field-announces-class-of-2020.aspx
The Cornell women rookies are listed on their roster:
http://cornellbigred.com/roster.aspx?path=wcross&
Speaking of the rookies, at least four of them are competing at the World Junior Triathlon Championships today (men at 3:30pm, women at 5:30pm, I'm guessing local time):
- Taylor Knibb (Cornell/USA) - defending world silver medallist
- Kyleigh Spearing (Cornell/USA)
- Lisa Tertsch (Harvard/Germany)
- Oliver Blecher (Brown/Canada)
There may be others but I don't know all of the rookies yet and not all of the schools will announce their entries until the meet is done (I only learned about Harvard's and Browns' through social media, while Cornell had a formal story on their athletics website).
I think the results will be posted here - http://wts.triathlon.org/results/result/undefined
You will need to select the Junior men and Junior women in the dropdown menu once those results are final. -
I see that Cornell brought in an 8:59 kid. No hoopla, no hype that I could see/hear.
And that's probably a *good* thing. -
yeah let a freshman be a freshman.
-
Yale women and Princeton men dominate at the HYP meet today. Randon from Yale win's the individual title for the men, and Harvard's Courtney Smith takes the win for the women.

The big surprise of the weekend had to be the Dartmouth men beating nationally ranked Providence and Arkansas in Boston.
We have a recap of that meet here:
