The Scottish NR is now a second faster than the US NR. Just squashed the Olympic champion too.

Talk about phantasy. How about some facts? Like these: Since 2013, Muir has cut 12 1/2 seconds off her 1500 time, and less than 1/2 second off her 800 time.

Great run nonetheless.
I think they said a 1:57/1:58 last 800 on the TV.
BBC lied to me. I just watched the race again and looks to be 2:02 for the last 800m.
Still a great run, equivalent to a 1:55 800m. All the talent is there right now, that's why Wambui and Niyonsaba can dominate the other girls.

I agree. Simpson gets away with so much. She is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Simposon operates in the grey areas - legal, but seen as unfair.
The same as what the NOP guys do I might add. with the more advanced testing and passports, I would wager Rupp and Farah are a lot cleaner than Bekele was during the peak EPO era of 2004-2005 - when Lance was packing it in because the tests couldn't pick it up.
You want suspicious, look at almost all the top 5km times in history being in a 2-year period. We're supposed to think all the best runners in history happened to be at their peak then?
And if they were dirty, how is it assumed Kenny was clean - when Kenny trained with a lot of them, came from the same country, and beat them?
She has really smooth form, is in the best shape of her life, was on a fast track and used the pacemakers perfectly.

Muir can surely run 1:57 at least. She has closed races in 1:59. She is a powerful runner, a Makhloufi type.
'Riddle Me" stop being lazy. It's perfectly understandable her 800 time hasn't come down when you look at the races.
Vast majority look to be indoors over the winter, looks like she's only done one or two a year outdoors. Compare that to the amount of 1500 she's done. Had she genuinely been targeting an 800 PB then I'm sure she would have done more optimum races and it would be faster.
She's young and improving, get over it.

Serious. Oh yea.
I don't think her progression is suspicious. She ran 3:58 last year. I thought she would medal at the Olympics…and I was wrong. I think Ms. Laura Muir may have just run the CLEAN WORLD RECORD. She is young and improving. She is a very impressive and very exciting runner. She showed it with her 3:57 earlier this year.
If she runs 3:52 this year…then I will be suspicious.
If I find out that she has a cyclist boyfriend …then I will be suspicious.
Does her coach or manager have any doping stories about them? I am going to guess NO at this point, but I do not know anything about them.
I think Genzebe Dibaba, Laura Muir and some other runners can run around 3:54 clean. I guesstimate EPO would give about a 2.0% performance improvement in elite runners, which brings a 3:55 down to around 3:50. (Look at the women who have run 3:50... and look at their coaches.)
Go Laura Muir!!!
Semenya shouda raced this 15. She wouda been who we were all talking about.
'Speedwork is overrated '
What because she rested since Rio. Why do the owners kf this site keep promoting this nonsense. Don't push hard in training just a few weeks of intervals seems to be the mantra on here. Completely at odds with how elites train.
IAAF Tables:
Muir's time 1245 points equivalent to 3.30 for a male runner
Dibaba's 3.50 gets about 1285 points equivalent to 3.27 for a male runner.
Mo Farah's 3.28.8 gets 1262 points equivalent to 3.53 for a female runner.

very unambitious pacing from gun, only 4-flat aim

It's not a marathon!
3'53+ !!!
I hope so, but I finally paid attention to her at the Olympics and what I noticed was a runner who's trunk and core was extremely stable much like Bekele, Dibaba, Galen and Mo (minus the head nod). Though she doesn't looked doped her times are approaching the outer edge and I've been fooled before.

2'09+ is rubbish pacing when 2'08 is absolute slowest it shouda been, probably 2'06 more like as that is still only 3'56.25 pace
not muir's fault, but the organisers that they asked for such rubbish pace
she is capable on a temperate day with steady 63s pace to bell currently
3'53+[l
if you find me 1 WR holder in history who thinks their clocking was the fastest they couda gone if examing the circumstances, then you are dreaming...
Proving conditions & pacing will never be perfect & your calculations are a waste of time.

It's too bad she did not have this type of performance during the olympics. A 3:55 would definitely have been better than watching that jog fest of a final.
Don't see you complain about the men's.

I'd like to believe that, but her handlers emphasized that her preOlympic training was minimal a she prepped for her veterinary college finals and license exams, ergo her performances are suspect.

People talking about drugs are misplaced also.
She is 22 and now a full time athlete (no uni) so looking at how much she has improved since she was 18 is hardly evidence of doping.
A runner who is trunk and core?

Exactly. Sad indictment on the state of athletics that any decent run and improvement is met with accusations of PEDs.
I expect to see Laura continue to improve over the next few years as she gets the benefit of being a full time athlete.
Fantastic run last night
