Just saw post by Wesley Korir on Twitter that the team has been kicked out of the Olympic village & is now staying in a Rio slum which is known to have Mosquitos everywhere https://twitter.com/weskorir/status/768520996139704321
Kenyan Athletes left in Rio & not safe

Stuck in a favela apparently because the cheapest flight out was on Thursday. Proof positive that Kenya wins despite having the worst organisation, management, handlers. But LRC somehow think we are capable of pulling off an elaborate doping program to rival Russia, US swimming or the UK cycling.
Seems athletes are in full revolt against Kip Keino and the NOCK. Kenyans on Twitter are calling for their heads. As can be seen in the linked article, some allegedly "sneaked" back into the country.

Kip, you're a sporting hero but no administrator. Please retire. -
Do you realize how good our swimming infrastructure is here in the US? How ridiculously competitive the club teams and high schools are? How crazy our Olympic Trials are? How many 13-, 14-, and 15-year-olds compete well enough to make Trials finals and sometimes the Olympics themselves?
Probably not. -

Do you realise how competitive our high school athletics, XC and road running scenes are? Probably not. -
Are top Kenyan athletes unable to just go to a hotel? Isn't Korir a politician too?
But yes pathetic. TIA as they say. -
Also looks like he had to go at least one refreshment station without water in the marathon because no on was there to staff it. Meanwhile Rupp is getting fresh air-conditioned hats.

Running is now a team sport, just like NASCAR.

That really could've done him in. Makes his achievement all the more impressive. But LOL at Wesley Korir trying to claim credit for Eliud's win saying "we worked together and brought the gold home". -
We know AK gets Nike money that disappears with no accounting of where it goes. Isn't it possible they bribed or blackmailed Kiprop to take a dive?

This is a stereotype and other Kenyans may get mad at me for saying this, but if a Kenyan is getting something covered and paid for, referred to in Kenya as a "free lunch", there's no way in the world they'll spend their hard-earned shillings for just a little more comfort. The most hilarious part is Kenyans themselves are unaware that they have this trait. It is quite normal to see a man step out of the latest luxury Mercedes Benz or BMW and bargain for ages with a fruit stand owner over a pineapple.
I, of course, am different and live for the moment pursuing my cultural, travel and artistic interests like they won't be here tomorrow. Which is why, like Van Gogh, I'll die poor and alone. -
gofundme so they could stay in a nice hotel

Ha! Wesley earns an obscene amount as an MP and even he would rather stay in a favela than spend his own cash. (Kenyan MPs are among the highest paid in the world thanks to parliament always giving themselves a raise).
There video he posted on Twitter was hilarious. They were all saying (in Swahili)how terrified they were, afraid to even venture across the road because the neighbourhood looked so dangerous and was swarming with mosquitos. Yet, because it was being for, no one wanted to cough up a little extra cash for a better hotel in a nicer part of town.
Having said that, I agree this was shabby treatment and heads better roll. -
Kwani wanaokaa favela siyo binadamu au? Wakenya mna kejeli sana.

If 13,14,15 year olds are in the trials, swimming is NOT competitive. -

Hasira za nini sasa? Lakini si nimeongea ukweli? Wanaoishi favela si ni binadamu kama wewe?
