Another new hat for Rupp. 46:53 through 15k

Ice would be a mistake??? Huh It's a friggin marathon, mid 70's temps, humidity in the 90's and running in wet shoes does suck, esp. for over 2 hours
Kipchoge making a move? Rupp right behind him.
66 within 13 seconds at 15k, then a bigger gap.
Galen Rupp has more hats than a baseball team.

hutchings called it. "I have never seen this before and one has to question it"
Question about uniforms: Could Rupp have worn his marathon (whitish) singlet in the 10000 or worn his 10000 (bluish) singlet in the marathon? Or are there rules preventing that?
Ward seems to be near the back of the pack.
These conditions are horrible, I have no doubt there will have been some spills by the end.
Meanwhile Italy's Daniele Meucci (27:32/2:11:08) has pulled out.
Tom Hammond's got a good point. WIll Rupp be DQd for getting that hat??
I don't think so. I'm watching the race with a buddy who knows little about running. "That's why I think RUpp won't win. He's a sissy. You have to be tough to win a marathon right?"
I laughed and said, "You don't think that Rupp is tough?"
Response: "No look at him."
The commentators just caught on to it. I see nothing wrong but Hutchins says it could bring up all possibilities of problems.
when will they stop cutting back to the non chase pack?
10 miles: 50:18
Rupp and Meb in the pack, with Ward just hanging on to the back of the group.
They must have cleared it with the officials beforehand because he's getting a new hat every single aid station.
If Rupp wins there will be a Letsrun thread about hats giving him an unfair advantage. I'm calling it.

Ummm. Those commentators aren't british. I think one is definitely from Australia or something. anyone know the names of the guys on the international IOC feed?
British/ Australian? Same thing really.
Farah should have entered this
bernie lagat should run there. perfect pace for him to outkick all of them.

When the women were running the marathon, the commentators said that the white singlets the USA gals were running were made specifically for the marathon - they orig were supposed to be the blue ones that USA is wearing on the track but with the heat concerns someone (probably salazar for rupp) but anyway, Nike made new white singlets/shirts for the marathoners.
Who knows how accurate that is. I've been listening to the stream/commentary on the CBS app.
Tim Hutchings is the one who talked about Rupp adn the DQ. At first, I was like, "no way."
But if Rupp is receiving cooled hats, I honestly think that should be a DQ.. It's like getting air conditioning that no one else is getting.
Now It's probably not in the rule book and the ultimate exploitation of the grey zone by Salazar - surprise, surpise - but if they are chilled - which I hadn't thoguht about - then I think Hutchings has a point.
