Medal guaranteed perhaps!

The hat switch is such classic Salazar. You don't know what to make of it. Its just weird to begin with. Nobody has seen it before. Than you start running through the questions. It raises legal questions. In the end you probably have to concede that it is legal if for no other reason the rulemakers never thought about addressing it. Ultimately you just come away annoyed.
I can almost guarantee that all the NOP doping allegations are exactly like this hat switch. It goes to show how Kara Goucher and Salazar are probably both right. When Salazar keeps doing stuff like that, you can't blame an athlete for becoming skeptical. But in the end Salazar is probably right that it is all legal. I would bet that he vetted this equipment exchange with the powers that be in Olympic marathon officiating.
Salazar is meticulous. I'd be shocked if he didn't vet it.
Now, are Africans going to give a fig about that? No.
What overall pace are they on at this point?
Much RESPECT FOR RUPP !!!!!
Rupp you stud GO USA
Rupp looks good. Desisa always runs great to 23 but dies. i think Rupp has a lock on Silver. But who knows --it is a marathon and it is hot.
Wow, Rupp has a shot at the sliver.
4:35 for mile 21!!
Can't even see 4th place behind them.
Amazing run for Lelisa so far.
4:35 last mile! Rupp still there.
If 2:08 pace, 24 minutes to go.

Also, Galen has to be stoked about this pace. What would be a better scenario for him?
Just posted the same thing on twitter. Last night was great for Centro and this is almost perfect for Rupp.
If we said "we're going to make it an 8 mile race" who are you picking?. What about a 10k? Rupp's name goes to the top.
8 mile? Like the movie? In which the white protagonist prevails against a series of black guys in battle after battle at the end of the movie. Very clever..
Ethiopian seems to be working pretty hard.
Rip will drop the hat at mile 24 and get an energy surge
Kipchoge looks like he's thinking about the getting home and reading the newspaper. Just totally unflustered.

Anyone else notice the guy unknowingly catching Kipchoge's hat while riding his bike. Guy was pumped!
Perfect description. It was great. He kept showing it off to everyone.

Several guys are getting/tossing hats. Not an issue. Let it go.
Sorry, I can't watch the race live. I had this impression from the thread that Rupp is constantly being handed new hats while everybody stares at him.
Anyway, you're right, probably no other runner cares at this point.
Rupp will win gold.
Let the second guessing begin, if he hadn't run the 10000 would he have the legs to challenge Kipchoge?
18th 445
19th 4:43
20th 4:41
21st: 4:35
Rupp is a beast.
