Meb stoped briefly after this but is now running again.
bbc showed him stop, rub his face, then keep going. but when he started again, it was a slow jog.

So Hamblin gets a medal for helping a runner she took out from teh competition and tore her ACL yet Abbey didn't get one?? Give me a break.
Kitkat bar time. Agree she gets a medal for taking out dagostino, tearing Ds acl, lying on the ground in self-pity until D encouraged her to get up, then doggin it in when she had no chance anyway. Then she dogged it in the final.
No sportsmanship here except on Ds part

No hat. It's a shame. Rupp does look might good so far.
bekele stopped to tie his shoe
I can see him about 20sec back now, motoring along. Doesn't look as comfortable as the rest, but looks pretty good considering he just had a problem.
Meb trying to start again. Looks painful.

Hats aren't water wrote:Hats are a "non-water" item, maybe?
Same category as the sponges maybe? What would be the argument for sponges ok hats no?
bet you're right. Good point re: sponges/wet towels. Assuming rules check at the Olympics is similar to Olympic Trials - athletes have to turn in all their stuff for the aid stations in advance of the race. So the officials would have multiple chances to say "nope, water bottles only" or "nope, no clothing changes." I assume most folks figure it's too much work to make gear/costume changes during a race.... and I really have to question the logic of it... but regardless, I will give salazar credit for ingenuity.
abera also off the back. Should have put Kenny B on the team. Dumb ethiopian federation.

At a minimum, one would think they both deserved it. Weird.
No kidding the story has already taken on a life of its own. If you read the text of the article - Hamblin now has waited for a wheelchair by Abby's side rather than continue racing?????? How in the world did that become part of this??
Meb should never have ditched the hat.
Meb is fine. Just stopped at a porta john alongside the course. Back in the lead pack soon.
This board had been hyping this race and now that it's actually going on we are talking about hats...
GI issues with Meb? What else could it be? He is still able to run.
