Congratulations Chelimo, well done!

He's a US Soldier. Doesn't get more American than that!!!
A US solder in name only. Just a ringer brought in to run and will never have even the slightest chance of seeing combat.
So the guy pulls in a salary on taxpayer money for running and gets fast tracked to be US Citizen. Hurray for the ringer. I would have preffered they just DQ'd him.
Great work and congratulations to Paul Chelimo. He's an honorable citizen that we are lucky to have represent US.
NBC should be ashamed of their sensational on-air shock and awe of athletes
Shaven head FTW. Shave your head Mr. Clean bald and you will keep your core temperature cooler and have more margin to kick at the end.
Unfortunately he had some hair growing out, or he would have won gold. Farah is always shaven clean bald, Lagat too. It works.
Once Farah tests positive, Chelimo will have a Gold !!!

Are you in the army? What do you do to help your country?

Seems to be 13:19 from the prelims. Insane.
True, MASSIVE improvement.
That said, he did run 13:21 in his early 20's back in 2012. Showed some prettty crazy talent but down in D2.

And you aren't one either. But at least he's got game and you have none but being a troll.
I will start off by saying Chelimo ran an awesome race and am so excited for him. Definitely deserves the silver.
I also truly believe he is clean. That said, this thread is a great example of the bias and hypocrisy of posters on LR. An athlete runs a 16 second PR in an Olympic final, winning the silver medal, and zero people question whether he is clean or not. While in other threads you have athletes that medal and they are immediately pegged as dopers when there is no more evidence of doping against them than there is Chelimo.

Did you ever serve? He's a soldier. Combat is not required to be a soldier. He graduated boot camp, he signed a contract, he follows his orders, he made a more honorable commitment than you probably ever will.
Too bad he's not a real American ...
Too bad you're a bigot.
Don't talk about me like you know me, you don't know me! How would you know I'm a bigot???
I am sure that you are a sad little troll. Forgot your meds today?
Paul Chelimo gave it 110%. He went for it and put himself in a position to win. Terrific racing and a great result! I for one, am very happy for the young man.

I agree, and I also believe Chelimo is clean. But, as far as "coming out or nowhere to [almost] win the Olympics" is concerned, Chelimo's performance rivals Makhloufi in 2012...and Mak Daddy has been continuously trashed on here as a "doper" ever since.
As far as I'm concerned, they're both clean until there's a compelling reason to believe otherwise.
Chelimo rocks! I'm a proud, born in PA American, and I'm proud to have Chelimo on our team. Hope we recruit more outstanding citizens like Chelimo! Chez - I'm sure the WCAP program has a spot for you!!!

I know what you posted, which satisfies sufficient conditions for you being a bigot.
Chelimo is awesome and fully deserves the support of anyone who cares about American distance running. It was heartbreaking to see his well-earned joy getting crushed on live tv (fvck you NBC, that was a cheap dirty trick) but SO happy he was reinstated.
Go Paul!!!
Id say he was clean..Im not sure if his yearly piss test in the Army would pick up that kind of stuff..
But, I guarantee he is a veteran at peeing in a cup..
I know I had to every year and I was only an 8 time number 1 runner on my Army 10-mile run team..... ha
A great run for silver.
This is what the Olympics is about at it's best, the emergence of talent! It will be cool to see how the rest of his season goes. Likely we'll see more fireworks from Chelimo over the rest of the season.
Yes, some will cry dope. Look, people do work hard and improve in the real world of non-dopers.
Also, it's just a frustrating truth that we don't know, for the most part, who dopes and who does not.
