So can USATF flex it muscle? and get the race re-run?
I've always wanted to see a re-run of a race.
Does this track have 9 lanes?

Won't help, Brazil didn't advance.
Just realized that. What the hell do you do? Split final? I would think No other country will want to do that...
If they rule there was interference from Brazil, would they rerun the time qualifiers for the last two spots? Or are they just SOL?

Doesn't matter whether Brazilian is disqualified, they're out by time anyway

It only has 9 lanes down the final stretch. Brazil didn't make the final, so they can't just DQ and replace. Who's got the rule book?

only on the home stretch.
The argument could be that the US deserves to be advanced to the final because they were impeded. Tougher to do in an event where you're limited to one runner/team per lane.

Have the US run by themselves and see if they get a medal on time?
Any links to a replay? I didn't notice the bump from brazil

Two heat final!!!
Speaking of the race, how bad was the commentating on NBC? I timed it. It took more than 3 seconds from the time the baton fell for them to realize it.
Hammond is getting up there in age.
When someone get's DQ'd you never advance the person they interfered with, they just get DQ'd. There is no proof the USA would have ran fast enough to qualify.
So if the 6th place team interefered with the a team and causes them to not advance. The 6th place team is DQ'd, but the 9th place team becomes 8th, not the one that did not finish because of the interference.
So unless you are in 9th place, protest really does you no good.

I think they should turn the final into another semi. Have 4 team race, have 5 team race. Top 6 teams into the REAL final.
I don't see who they could remove to include the US. I think it's just a case of hard luck. I feel especially sorry for English Gardner. At least the men have qualified.
Why isn't Pat Henry the sprints/relay coach for every US team? Am I missing something? He's coached more relay teams than anyone.

It took everyone A HUGE amount of time even to notice that Felix was stumbling. Commentary was bad.
Totally agree. This should be coached by one of the top college coaches. Wtf does Dennis Mitchell know? He ran on a handful of relays 20 years ago. That doesn't make him an expert.

If you have access to the online streams you should not watch NBC. No commercials on here, and the commentators know what they are talking about and actually get excited when exciting things are happening on he track.
Brazil DQ'd.
If the US end up with a medal from this event it will be worse than Mekhissi receiving bronze in the 'chase.
To much rushing to judgment around here. Change the title of post. Clear interference- not Allyson 's fault. Sheesh.
