A fantastic race, only the people who follow the SC will understand how big of a deal this is. This is perhaps a bigger deal than beating the USA in the 4x4. Jager medaled in one the most competitive global championship distance races ever. Jager in my mind ran the perfect race, he put himself in position to win and to get a medal in the worst case scenario. Jager wasn't going to win that race, Kiprutoto was in celebration mode with a 100m to go and certainly could have pushed harder if Jager came up on him. At best, Jager could have made it slightly more interesting had he covered Kiprutoto move, but that would have been at the risk of getting bronze.
It will be interesting to see what Jager and Kiprutoto can do in a rabbited sub-8 paced SC, which probably won't happen this year.
So So proud of Evan in the middle... OREO Cookie Steeplechase was the best of all the donuts events. Donut is the track silly. Evan is amazing... so calm, so poised, so brilliant and glossy over the barriers. Just so proud !

He retired after the race? I thought he retired at the 2,930m mark today.
Where are we getting this almost 100 degrees? I think it's a high of like 88 there today and his race was ran in the morning. It was probably 80 with a 65 dew point.
Am I missing something?
There is a digital thermometer on the infield that can be seen when runners are on the homestretch. It sits directly in the sun so has routinely had readings of 30+ degrees Celsius. Air temp was probably low 80s in the shade. Not quite 100F but also not even close to ideal temps.

There is a sign on the infield that showed a temperature of 36 degrees C during the race
If Jager runs a well paced steeple after this I think he will break the world record. Conseslus Kipruto and Jager need Brimin to take it 1800m-2k at WR pace and they can both do the rest, as evidenced by today's run.
However, I'm not sure if I remember correctly but think he said something about running a fast 5k after the Olympics?

I don't think it is fair to compare the two. Jager is from another planet entirely. Fam ran way faster than he ever should have through pure hate. Fam is a good guy, but Jager is just on another level entirely.
Do you think Kemboi was making some sort of a statement with the tonsured hair? Almost like he knew that Kipruto was taking over and he was making some sort of statement, like the monks who do it as a sign of humility.
I mean, maybe this was Kemboi's way of saying, "Yes my time is over."
Regardless, Jager is a total badass and he is getting railed by the entire Swedish track team and volleyball team and and whatever else sport that has a ton of Swedish hotties. He'll be sore tomorrow, but it won't be from the Steeple.
