Of course they didn't call the police.
It was the police who robbed them.

Pics of the gun at Lochte's head?
it sounds more like those that robbed hum were coos, and now they are trying to cover it up. lochte has no reason to lie.
If his story is indeed BS, why the need to make something up? Do athletes in the village have a curfew? Was his story a cover-up excuse for missing curfew?

Interesting how passive many of those people are.
I had someone try and snatch a camera out of my hand in a shitty part of Mexico. The camera was small enough that I could grasp it in my right hand, so i fought back with the left. Shoved the dude hard into the ground and then kicked him in the face. No one seemed to care.

Funny replies. All the taxis there are yellow. Also, thief didn't take cell phone or passport? They're more valuable than any cash he had as resales on black market.
Right. There is no crime in Rio. Targeting and robbing intoxicated tourists is unheard of.

Is that why Rio police are looking for Lockte? They wanted to hold his passport until the robber issue was resolved. But, Lockte laywered up and was advised to flee the country. Which he supposedly did according to his lawyer.

The two men are under investigation for allegedly lying about the robbery they claimed happened Sunday in Rio
The swim team had already moved out of the Village but Feigen may still be in Brazil while Lochte flew home to Florida on Tuesday
The judge's order came after seeing video obtained by DailyMail.com of the laughing men returning to the Village after the robbery
Investigators claim that the X-ray machine at the Village showed the men were in possession of all belongings they said were stolen on Sunday

Police in Brazil arrived at the Olympic Village on Wednesday to seize the passports of Ryan Lochte and Jimmy Feigen in an attempt to keep them in the country for further questioning about the robbery they claim occurred early Sunday.
A judge gave authorities the go ahead after doubts began to grow over the claims made by the swimmers in light of the surveillance video obtained by DailyMail.com earlier this week showing the group laughing and smiling as they returned to the Olympic Village.
The athletes are now accused of lying about the incident after the publication of the video Tuesday led investigators to change their line of inquiry.
A formal request for their passports to be seized reveals that the two men will now be investigated for the false communication of a crime, which carries a maximum sentence of three years in jail in Brazil.
Records retrieved by investigators from the X-ray machine through which the athletes passed in the Village also showed that the men were carrying all the belongings which they had claimed in sworn statements to police had been stolen.
Lochte had already flown out of the country and is home in Florida while Feigen's whereabouts are still not known. He had been in Rio all day Tuesday but it is unclear if he took a flight home before the judge's order.

In the statement a public prosecutor said that the images from the surveillance video, along with 'contradictory' statements made by the athletes to police, further reinforced investigators' doubt about the veracity of the athletes' claims they had been robbed."

Isn't that un-American?
Or am I still living 15 years ago?
Well, clearly SOMETHING happened, or else why make a story about nothing?
Either it's real, or it's a coverup.
Certainly not a frat joke, in any case.
Actually, wasn't his mother the first one to report the "news" (to FoxSports)?
Ms Vito, Does the plantiff's case hold water?

very unlikely. brazilians accept crime is there, there is no denial.
there is a court order from a judge in place now. lochte and other(s) are not to leave the country before they sort out why they had different versions of the same story.
and also to explain why none could remember the type of car they were in, where they were robbed, and even the color of the cab.

Except that he already left the country.

Yes, stealing the passport and cellphone of a famous Olympian would be a brilliant move. That way the police can use "find my iphone" to instantly track you down with an incriminating passport in your possession.
Also, if you're going to use a stolen passport, not such a great idea to use the passport of someone famous who everyone in the world knows just had their passport stolen.
If every taxi in Rio is yellow and there are no unlicensed or scam taxis, why did the police bother asking the color? Do you remember the color of the last taxi or uber you took, nevermind if it was dark and you were drunk?
And how the hell is a sheetfaced Lochte going to know where they were pulled over? Do you think he has a map of Rio and a GPS embedded in his brain?
