Agreed, but also the fact he has no brand. Nobody other than hard core track fans will recognize his face or name in a few years and most have already forgot.
Unless you're Michael Johnson, Bolt and maybe Felix, you're nobody once you retire. Once upon a time Marion Jones. If you run the Boston Marathon like Shalane and Goucher that helps. Sad but nobody outside us knows them for their medals just running Boston.
Guys like Carl Lewis, Flojo, O'Brien stayed famous for awhile. It doesn't last. They aren't athletes in sports you see every day for 20 years. It's just the hard truth, he has no brand.
