YEAH. WAKE UP, SHEEPLE.
YEAH. WAKE UP, SHEEPLE.
The important thing is not the time, but that he looked relaxed.
He's one of the top 10 sprinters of all time; that's how he won.
he won by putting one foot in front of the other relatively fast.

less dope than before? Is this the slowest field in ages???
The field was a little slower than 2012, but on par with 2008. 2008 & this year both had two men over 10-seconds. Both only had 1 man under 9.89, with 2nd right at 9.89.
at least his 9.81 was believable.ill be interested to see how quick he goes, over 200 meters.

Letsrun, the only place in the universe where 9.80 is slow.
Ben Johnson of Canada who won the 100 meter gold medal at the 1988 Olympics in a time of 9.79 would have gave Bolt a lesson or two in this race. He had the fastest start of anyone in the world coming out of the blocks with both legs flying out of the blocks in sync.
Hayward has a faster track.
Well, I can top that. I have a brother exactly like that. He sees a lone shooter behind every tree. And he hasn't held a decent job for ten years because once people are on to him, it's over.
Not at LRC though.
There are, as always, some serious idiots on here.
1. Only one Olympics (non-Ben Johnson) has seen any person other than Bolt run under 9.81. The only guys to run faster in an Olympics are Blake, Gay and Gatlin. Of those three, ALL THREE have prior drug busts.
2. The person who says DeGrasse and Bolt are essentially locked in for top 2 in 2020 is also stupid. Yes, they may be. But it's 4 years away. Did you even know who DeGrasse was 4 years ago? This may shock you, but new runners may be coming.
considerably less rest after the semi, plus Bolt is not as healthy and in shape as in previous campaigns. He'll have to run 19.5 or faster to win the 200m, however, with Gatlin and Merritt there.
wait so why was the rest time only 85-90min instead of the usual 120+ min?
rio just got to decide how they do it, or was there another reason that caused them to change the amount of time between semi and final?

I would have guessed at least 2 others would have beat that time. I think its time to either hang up the spikes or run the 400 unless he wants to lose (other than van niekerk).
Not as fast a track as previous and a neutral wind.
I bet Bolt's have trouble sleeping at night worrying about his 'slow' time.
Laughing aloud right now reading SprintAnalyst's posts and "the important thing is he looked relaxed." This thread is full of LetsRun gold. :)

I have noticed that no American sprinter (male/female) bettered their Hayward trial time. It's some sort of magic track or maybe it is the wind there.
It's a short 400 meter track, but it's longer in the spot where they run the 100.
because 9.80 is still a really fast 100 M time - its only been run 40 to 45 times and only only 7 or 8 guys have ever run that fast or faster, right...so...it was a 9.8, not a 10.00.

Did you hear the news? Ben Johnson of Canada never had an official time of 9.79 be a use he failed his drug test, so no lessons to be learned in this case. But thanks for stopping by.

The stupidy of the OP is beyond me. In the history of the Olympics, no one had ever broken 9.80 until Bolt came around. Only 2 men (silver and bronze in 2012) have ever done it at the Olympics besides bolt.
BOlt won last year in 9.79 right. Gatlin was slower all years so it was pretty logcial to expect a 9.80 to win it.

I think it was to get a lot of Bolt in prime time TV.
He ran at basically 8:00 and 9:30 east coast US time.
Nice sweet spot.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
