Paul Bunyan -- man, could he dunk! And heave the discus! Knock a tater farther than a steroid-swelled Barry Bonds! What a great, great athlete, that Bunyan, though there's no youtube video available to prove it.
Richard Petty -- greatest TRACK ath-a-lete ever! But his cars were juiced. STP = PED = The Racer's Edge.
NO
He's never gone out 100%. He's a lazy showboater. He does just enough to win. Never lived up to his potential. He'll regret when he's older.
If he wanted to really be the GOAT, he would've run the 400 too. But he's a lazy goofball.
There are guys riding the bench in the NBA who are better athletes than bolt. Is he fast, yes. Is he anything else, no.
al Oerter won gold at 4 olympics in the discus

Lebron is what tall and a decent jumper not fast not strong
By this logic then heptathletes are the greatest athletes of all time.
Do you consider horses to be athletes? If so, then Secretariat is the greatest athlete of all time.
Without a doubt - Floyd Mayweather.
Secretariat #35 in greatest athletes of all time
No, that would beJim Thorpe. He played 2 to 3 pro sports and then was a gold medal in the decathalon. Even if it's not him. The greatest athlete would be the record holder for the decathalon
Don Bradman has the greatest margin of superiority over his peers.
Bo Jackson, Wayne Gretzky
OJ SImpson is the greatest.
Throwing, catching, running, hiding, stabbing, evading, riding in a car, robbing, banging, , wearing gloves, acting, being on tv, a bunch of stuff

Basketball like many sports requires different aspects of athleticism. Like agility, speed, jumping ability, hand eye coordination among other things. Sprinting requires you to run in a straight line. Nothing against Bolt, he is amazingly fast. But greatest athlete, nope.

Did you seriously just post that he's never gone out 100%? He does just enough to win? He holds TWO world records, 3 Olympic Gold medals in the 100m meters, etc. etc. All he needs to do is win. What potential are you even talking about? I am sure when he is old and sitting around looking at all of those Olympic Gold medals....he will say, man - wish I would have been better. You are an Idiot.

a great athlete is versatile. bolt can just run fast for a few seconds. what else can he do?
He plays soccer, cricket, and does the long jump that I know of.
Are you kidding with the swimming vs running comparison??? Way, way more competition in running worldwide. A great percentage of hums have zero access to a swimming pool, much less a swimming coach. No even comparable.

nah. phelps is better at swimming than he is at running. but there are more important things than being able to run or swim fast.
