I went home devastated, when things don't go my way.......fill in the blank.
More good news Rupp boys!
Update PRs of another marathoner in the 2016 Olympic marathon:
Mr. Eliud Kipchoge:
5k: 12:46.53
10K: 26:49.02
Marathon: 2:03:05
Oh boy.
Update:
All that stuff I said about 10K PRs and Olympic marathons.
It might not be correct.
He shouldn't have gone back to go get Mo Farah and help him, that may have cost him a medal. He's a traitor to his team and country.
He should have waited for Mo to catch up, and then tripped him again.
Rupp did a sterling job out there, he never lets USA down when in matters. He has monster endurance at the moment and should go really well in the marathon.
Nobody mentioned that the Farah , Rupp contact probably injured Rupp more because he was not the same runner with the same finish he might have had. The Boldon Hammond combo fiasco is horrible. I have seen most of every Olympics since 1976 including the great Lasse Viren Era.
Boldon is such an island fan boy, I could gag. Hammond is the king of vanilla commentators, Go away, both of you please
Man that is a COLD attitude toward Boldon
i think his coach is the cause of his poor performance and over confidence when he said that his athlete is better than MO or the OTHER KENYAN,i believe was a dream ,his coach advised MO to take part at LONDON MARATHON when MO ran 2h8 was again poor advice i cant say the reason ,running consultant get paid now, also i believe he will BLEW OUT at marathon event next sunday ,u can double check when i predicted the men winner at berlin marathon2015 and london marathon 2015
If Mo Farah and his wife were having relationship problems, Galen would probably let Mo boink his wife!
Galen Rupp = the ultimate cuckold!
Dude, you are not on the same team... You slowed down to help him back into the race to BEAT you. What a cuck!

He went home?
That's what it says, so it must be true along with all the other nonsense.
I guess I am trying to figure out why Rupp would go home before the marathon. Seems like a bad idea to travel that much in a short period of time and still be fresh for nexr Sunday.
Then again, who are we to ever question Rupp and Salazaf and their training methods?

Am I being stupid? How is running 6 seconds slower finishing 7 places better?
Is the point that this was not head-to-head, but two different 1500m fields from the same event, and TrackBot does not distinguish?

First 5K in 13:53, Last 5K in 13:12 for Mo
Rupp also ran very well. 5th in a race with that kind of negative split is great.

If he would've taken the lead with 5 or 6 laps to go and pushed the pace he might've been able to get away from at least two of those who finished ahead of him... but the two Ethiopians were barely ahead of Rupp and I think he could've had them if he had pushed a little earlier.
Way too many stupid comments on this thread - I don't know where to start, but to think that Rupp could have just picked up the pace during the second half which was already a 13:12 negative split is absolutely absurd. That whole group was hurting.
With respect to the subject title, it is shocking how many imbeciles still think using "devastated" is funny.
Can't wait to see Rupp on the medal stand during the closing ceremonies.
Cheers.
he always looks heavy footed to me. It was ironic that starting the last lap they made a comment that he'd just run the fastest last 400 in his life in a recent finish, and he falls through the floor.
Absolutely nothing there. Hard to understand why.
And I also wonder where all these guys come from who get lapped in an average paced race, and still get to claim the Olympic experience.
Not a Rupp fan, but... wrote:

No chance. Shalane is doing waaaayyyy better than Ruppy will. He won't be top 10. He should've never run the 10000 or, alternatively, only focused on the 10000). It is hubris on his (and saladbar's) part to think he could medal in both events. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Trashing Rupp after tonight is absurd.
He was right in it.
Never had a chance when the real running started. He was running a tempo with everybody else. Then the real runners decided to finish it.
Fanboy.
amazing how much hate happens here, the better the runner, the stronger the (self) loathing.
anyone who has placed top 5 multiple times in world championships cast the next stone.
that is all.
