No worries man! This has been a pretty entertaining thread.

Not too shabby...
Does that include middle distance?

Yes, that is how it seems.
The last track medal will be the 400m.
fNow, of course I could be wrong. The best scenario will be Galen Rupp winning bronze in the marathon and that's a tall order.
I am not against the U.S. of A.
I am just putting things in perspective.
As a matter of fact, I am a big supporter of the U.S.A. (That's for the record).
Well you got Galen winning bronze right, sort of.
Wow. I'd not seen them put side by side like this. Amazing!

good of you to come back to make amends for that prediction. This will, I believe, be our best distance performance in the Olympics for a long time. We'll see about the marathon tomorrow. Chelimo silver, 5000m, Jager silver, steeple, Centro gold, 1500m, Murphy bronze 800m, Coburn bronze, steeple, Simpson bronze, 1500m. Six medals is very respectable. U.S. distance has not held its weight in a long time. Also, respectable performances from Huddle in 30:13 AR in the 10000m for 5th, not bad for Flanagan, Linden, Cragg in the marathon, Rupp 6th in the 10k in a respectable 27:08 (5 seconds below Meb's long-standing old AR), and a lot of finalists, including 3 in the men's 5, the men's steeple, should have been 3 in the 1500m (and that kind of race was right up Andrews' alley), etc. Well done!
You're a good sport, dude.
Bold call that went about as wrong as it possible could. Good that you own it.
I think USA eclipsed all of our expectations at the distance events.
Definitely entertaining for all of us.
As a consolation, Kipchoge is officially GOAT at the marathon.

FACK YOU!!! AHHHHHHH YEAHHHH BABY
Native son is awesome. Has been providing us Kenyan insight for years, enjoys good-natured banter, seems to really love the sport, and admits when he is hilariously wrong.
Bravo, NativeSon!

Apology accepted by this letsrunner.
Respect to you for owning up to it.
This will go down in letsrun lore as one of the most epic prediction posts in the history of the interwebs. (:
All the best to you and your running.
Keep on posting.

That's honorable to come back and apologize.
Jagger's medal was the only one that really wasn't an upset of the five.
This happened to be the best US Olympic distance performance ever.
It was an upset that coburn (who was 6 seconds better than the #4 time in the world coming in) got a medal?
Fun thread.
USA 2016 Olympic Distance Medals

Galen Rupp, Men’s Marathon, 2:10:05 (8/21) - BRONZE
Paul Chelimo, Men’s 5,000m, 13:03.80 (8/20) - SILVER
Evan Jager, Men’s 3000m Steeple, 8:04.28 (8/17) - SILVER
Emma Coburn, Women’s 3000m Steeple, 9:07.63 AR (8/15) - BRONZE
Matthew Centrowitz, Men’s 1500m, 3:50.00 (8/20) - GOLD
Jenny Simpson, Women’s 1500m, 4:10.53 (8/16) - BRONZE
Clayton Murphy, Men’s 800m, 1:42.93 (8/15) - BRONZE
I found this thread after Rupp won bronze and with knowledge of all the medals. I can forgive you for being so wrong - I have been thrilled by team USA's distance performance over the last 2 weeks. Especially Jager, Centro, and Chelimo. Those races had me jumping up and shouting at the TV, and not because I expected those outcomes. What an Olympic year across the board.
Oh and does triathlon count? Because Jorgensen absolutely destroyed that field.

Lol!
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I got it right once. Ha ha ha!
By the way , Galen is great! I believed that he'd do very well.
Perhaps if he had only concentrated on the marathon, he'd have got silver.
We'll never know.
This_|| So DEVASTATING!!!!!!Lol
