I’ve been lurking the old training threads and found + read Eddylee’s post; it got me inspired to do the same thing. In my opinion, I’ve had a shit running career and I just want to find out what my true limits are, on the track, before I can’t reach them anymore. Ran High School, ran in College, got burned out, bummed around for a few years, generally staying in shape. Recently, the desire and passion to run came back and as I see it, I have one last chance to make something of myself and I’m going to take it.
I am 26 yrs old, I have a steady job (at the moment), I have time to train and money for pt, chiro, and massage. I have access to a great ice bath and will be primarily basing my training off of Daniels' Running Formula.
PR’s
800m: 2:00.99 (2012)
1500m: 4:00.68 (2014)
Mile: 4:20.4 (2014)
3000m: 8:40.78 (2014)
3000SC: 9:27.54 (2014)
5000m: 15:10.00 (2012)
8000m: 25:55.3 (2014)
Half: 1:17:56.00 (2016-Hilly ass course lol)
In my head, I’m really shooting for something like 8:25 in the steeple. This gives equivalent PRs of 3:38, 3:56, 7:48, 13:35, and 28:17.
Do I think I can really do this? I HAVE NO FVCKING CLUE.
Look, I’ve got one shot left before I move down to the marathon. Why waste my time shooting for anything less than my own dream scenario? All I know is that I am sick of just being fvcking average. I am sick of slipping into the melancholy life of the 9 to 5 and I abhor the thought of taking up the “hearty challenges of lawncareâ€. I want to blaze! I want to become a legend in my own time. I want to make the stands gasp as I unleash an otherworldly kick down the back stretch. I want to break four in the mile, and I want to steeple at the absolute limits of my ability. Those are the only two things I really care about doing.
So. Can I do it? Don’t know, don't fvcking care. I’m going to find out exactly what I can do and fvck the rest. Time to see if I can make the bus one last time.
