kamworor what happened!?!?
good showing for Rupp given marathon situation.
Not sure what the Kenyan 10k team was thinking overall though. How would they beat Mo with that strategy or lack therof?
I watched the race in Spain and coverage was incredible. 0 commercials, very few brief skips from the race to field events. The TV coverage in the US really sucks compared to this

the kenyans (tanui sort of saved face) could not have been worse if they tried. Let it go slow from start and then tank once the ethiopians upped it a little.

Thanks guys, timed it just right and caught the whole thing. What a race.
I wonder if Rupp could have medaled if not for marathon training.
I wonder if Rupp would have medaled if he had run with the strength of a Marathoner .... what a complete waste of time/effort.
Why would Coach Salazaar do this? It should have been a "Be Molly Huddle" approach -- American Record is the minimal expectation. Freaking waste! -
Anyone have full results? How did the other Americans finish?

If you actually watched the replay, it was Mo's fault and rupp did nothing wrong. Mo just inexplicably stepped on Rupp's heal and fell. Rupp is lucky to have not tripped
No . It was nothing like that.
It would have been difficult for Mo to step on Rupp's heal when Rupp was BEHIND him.
WRONG. Mo kicked Rupp on the calf on his backstride then when brought it forward clipped his other leg. -
Kamworor was nothing like he was in spring and I was expecting more from Karoki, too.

Rupp's last lap was a replay of his last lap at the trials 5000.
Replay of the last lap of every championship race he's ever run except London. -

Speaking of Mo, did anyone get Angry Vernon's time/place?
-
What, no Doping NOPer Levins? Where is he?

Rupp ran pretty well. I don't think people were expecting too much from him in the 10k. As noted, we've seen this result from Rupp before. Who knows what the Marathon will bring, but I don't think his lack of a last lap kick will be a factor.

No this was not good for Rupp. Just imagine all the questions that will be asked when he finishes outside of the medals in the marathon. Everyone will be asking 1) could he have medaled had he not run the 10000? 2) Why is he so selfish that he would deny another American an olympic experience even when he knew (and we all knew) he couldn't medal in the 10000 when training for a marathon? -
I think the second 5000 was 13:12
In 1972, Shorter was 5th in the 10000 and then won the marathon.
