I think this is possible. We just really don't know what Galen can do in the marathon yet. The 2:11:xx in the heat at the trials was pretty impressive and dominated one of the better championship type racers around. Yes, Meb is getting older, but he's still tough to beat.
Since this isn't a "time trial" type marathon with pacers, I think even the marathoners with faster PRs are you going to be much more bunched up until later in the race (18-20 miles). Do you really want a guy who has a realistic shot at 3-6 place in the 10k on the track hanging around with less than 6 miles to go?
I think Kipchoge wins it, but frankly, I won't be surprised if a lot of the "favorites" cave either due to the pace changing style of championship racing or the weather. 2 American's on the podium??? ;)
