Based on that workout he's obviously in great 10k shape. 8 x 1 mile (7 of 'em in low 4:2x, then the last one in 4:15 (the article quotes 3:15, so assuming they meant 4:15), followed by 3 x 300m in 42. Given that this was part of a 140 mile week, he is likely in close to AR shape for the 10k.
And don't forget, what I think is one of the more revealing bits of the article, that AlSal said: ""Right now Galen is the only marathoner in our group,†Salazar says. “But also, he is so far out in front of what those other guys are doing…†Salazar pauses, but doesn’t finish the thought.""
AlSal likely knows what kind of work Farah is doing, and he makes it sound like Rupp is doing much more.
I think Rupp is a solid contender for the silver/bronze in the 10k (the Kenyans apparently suck in the heat as per their trials results) and a wildcard for the bronze in the marathon.
