Fvvvck all of you tall guys. I'm 5'5". Notice how this is a running website, and that in the thread stating the average height as 5'9", all but 2 are taller than that. Most of you would be nowhere in your running ability without your height.

I'll do what I like, because I'm six foot five and I eat punks like you for breakfast.
https://youtu.be/QEmOVR16QFMMan, I'm a 5'4.5" woman and weigh 125, and I'm not even considered uber thin. I would be straight up obese if I weighed 160 something. This is sad. On a related note, it drives me crazy how we can't say anything even remotely critical about overweight people, buts it's fair game to rip on skinny people. Sometimes we go too far with the "celebrate curvy" bit when people are just straight up overweight/unhealthy/obese.
5'7", mid-130s and I feel straight up gross right now; need to lose like 5 pounds. I think I'd starve myself before I ever let it get as bad as these "average" Americans.
6'2" 150
And I'm not even good at running anymore.

It's just another sector of the useless economy I'm always on about. Somebody has to eat all that garbage the corporations call food, so naturally those corporations go around telling people obesity is fine and dandy.
If nobody wanted to eat all the corn syrup, what are all the poor corn farmers gonna do? Try to compete with oil by selling ethanol? Nope, farmer outta work is what happens.
Nearly everything in the modern US economy is automated and the entire system would collapse if people weren't given useless busy work to do.
Jesus my blood pressure feels higher just reading that.
Manzano, Meb, Bekele, etc.

I am a 5'3 woman. Normal pre-kids weight was 115 - thin but not skinny by any stretch. I have always been a soccer player with an atypical build for running. In my second pregnancy I got up to 150. I was huge and it took a while to get back to normal. 168 is very big.
On a side note, my oldest child is now 7. It's shocking to see how unfit most of the kids are. I would guess at least 50% of the kids in her class, on her teams etc are moderately overweight - obese. It's really sad to see.

you should be blaming for your parents not to have taller partners.
Sitting at 6'2" and 155 lbs after basephase (80-100mpw). 15 pounds lighter than last year when I was injured before the season. I smell a PR coming! Everyone thinks I am unhealthy.
Were you good?

Or gain 15lbs of muscle and lose 10lbs of fat and look great at a heavier weight. Personally I think 5'4/170 is a bit more shocking.
The scary part is we are talking 15lbs in 20 years and it doesn't look like the trend is slowing. The average gal is going to break 200 in 30 years.
5'11, 180lbs. ran 4.35 this year. feel awesome, nice to have a little muscle.
That's just sad...
Because most ppl I know are probably
- girls 110-130 from 5'1" to 5'6"
- guys 140-185 in the 5'8 to 6'6"
It's really telling you that the other half of the average is 235+. THAT my friends, is the scary, scary shit out there.
DUB TEH EFF?!? I'm 6'3" 180 and been doing my best running ever... all these 6'0" 150's are scaring me.... I used to be 165, and I was worse than I am now...
A lot of guys are around 5'9", but it seems there are many who are taller and not many who are shorter. Surprised the average is not higher.
5'9" 158 myself.
5'9", 154. Did my best running at 145.
6'2" 145 here
I'm 5'11 and about 170. My best running was around 160 i would say. The womens is the most shocking 5'4 and 168 is disgraceful. At 5'4 surely you should be under 140
