Try to be happy that you have the opportunity to show her your love now, even if only for a short time.
Many of us never had that opportunity. My mother suddenly died without warning when she was 54. I was a 22-year-old know-it-all at the time.
Tell her that before she dies. You'll feel better for it once she is gone.

This was not me. Thanks all for your kind words. It really helps me a lot.

By contrast, my mother is a malignant b!tch who was very open about wishing she never had kids. There was never a normal day growing up.
I'll spare you the details of what makes my mother a true douchebag, but suffice it to say, I can't wait for her first broken hip so I can ship her off to a nursing home, sell her home and take a vacation. I am always reluctant to tell people I don't like my mother because it is so atypical, yet when it does slip out I am always amazed at the number of people who feel the same way.
I'm sorry you're losing your mom, but be glad she was actually a mother to you. Make the most of the time you have left. I'm sure there is a lesson to be learned in these posts.

You're right about the never easy bit, but coming to an unregistered user site is not the place to post about it, only a troll would do that as there are appropriate sites for doing so.
Record her life history. Google for suggestions of things to ask. Keep it for yourself and posterity. Make a recording of her voice so you can play it back. Tell her you love her. My mom passed away a couple of months ago (87-yrs old). She lived with me for the last several years so I was fortunately able to be around her.
