Gotta love how Brooks spent $110k/year on their beer miler and $20k/year on Eccleston.

the guy RAN 4:00 with rests after each quarter under 10 seconds spent chugging a beer.
That's insane.
The guy should just break 4 for the mile because he clearly could.

Other than maybe one shaky transition I don't see much room for improvement there. Solid run by Bellemore! I would say he has potential for sub 430 though.

It is. That number is so far out there it should be in space.

While he could likely break 4 now, each lap split isn't 400 full meters. It appears in the videos that they can pick up the beer from the mile start line (9 meters back) and walk up to the finish line while drinking.

Lol I wonder if lewis kent has any performance reductions in his contract. Props to him for cashing in while he still could though!
There was a sidebar in runner's world that said Asbel Kiprop used to get in bar fights and he loves alcohol. Imagine if he ran a beer mile. 4:10?

It's my understanding that he gets money from the Beer Mile racing circuit or whatever its called as a "spokesperson", while his Brooks deal does not directly involve money (and thus it isn't that big of a deal to them that he lost, maybe).
If he continues to hold some limelight in the beer mile (he's only been bumped down to #2 or maybe #3 now), he can still make money as a marketable, down to earth athlete (NICK SYMMONDS??????) expanding beer-mile exposure.
Obviously, if Corey decides he doesn't want to spend his time marketing this thing, then Lewis's employment is pretty secure. With that said, I wonder if a fast runner like Corey will take the event up now.

You can thank people like NS for crap like this. NS Needs to leave the sport and so does Brooks if they keep allowing themselves to be influenced and represented by people like NS. They are turning into almost as big a disgrace as NS.

Probably not. Trials decathlon 2nd-placer Jeremy Taiwo's deal with Brooks is for some shoes and $1,000 for travel. And he still has to buy his own throwing shoes and probably some other special field event shoes that Brooks doesn't make. If I were him I'd try to get out of the Brooks deal, and see if Nike or adidas are ready to give a team member some real money.
Corey does most of his training at the Dominion House and Bridge Tavern.

"Taiwo said Brooks agreed to sponsor him, offering him running gear, track spikes and $1,000 for traveling. Taiwo said he needed to qualify for the Olympics to make a bonus."

Second get a beer mile race on a track like it should be.
And finally how is this thread not super hot on letsrun right now. Dude ran a 4:34 beer mile.
Beer miles are for losers and frat boys. Embarassment to the sport.
Says the guy who was a top runner on the team but sucked at the beer mile.
Bridge tavern has been closed for years! DH and a few houses on Randolph/Sunset Ave's however...definitely.

The six-figure deal only applies if bonuses kick in - which they likely won't.

Wait...it was NOT on a track?
Corey Bellemore, Melissa Bishop and Ryan McKenzie - all coached by Dennis Fairall ( Windsor ).
Dave might be at Rio, but Dennis is the greatest coach from 1985 to 2015.
