age 30, after completing a beginners build up and some week of maybe 10mpw 27:30
now at age 33, running some 50 mpw I havent raced a 5k in a while but looking at a recent 10k pr I would say I am in around 18:45 shape.

22:30 at age 29, not in shape at all. 10mpw for 2 months after being an overweight person.
17:30 2 years later at 50mpw
Cool to see everyone's improvement. Hard work pays off!
First was 16:57 when I was in very good shape from cycling. When I started focusing on running I knocked it down to 16:00 and when I started focusing on more specific training I knocked it down to 15:29.
Started age 16. 15:29 first race and now it's 14:18 at the end of college. I don't think that's good improvement.
Ran around 25:30 as a 9 year old - I was proud I didn't slow to a walk at any point in the race.
Dropped that to 21:59 as a 10 year old, then ran a few seconds slower the next year (my "training" had dropped from about 10 miles per week to maybe 5).
Started high school at around 19:40 for my first 5k, and finished my senior year with a best of 17:10.
Best I ever ran on the track in college was 16:01.
PR at age 27 on the track is 14:51. Right now (a little over a year after my PR) I could probably do 15 something, but hard to say exactly.
16.40 @ 18
15.28 @ 25
...
20.03 @M50+
20:57 as a nine year old, then got progressively slower the next two years (22:29, 23:38) before I started training as a twelve year old and ran 19:10 that year. A few years down the line I'm at 16:02 for an xc 5k, so 15:40 ish is probably a better indication.
18:01 age 14
15:54 age 17
I have almost come full circle:
23:xx at 14
15:26 at 21
22:xx at 50
First 5k race, Senior in HIgh School, 16:22.8, Franklin Park Northeastern invitational XC, 22nd place, Fall '74, won by Al Salazar (junior year)
Most recent, 21:39, Santa Rosa CA all comers meet summer 2015, age 58.
Several faster runs in between, in the 80s.
First 5k: 35:30ish
Current PR: 17:44
10 - 33:15
11 - 31:30
12 - 20:50
13 - 19:04
14 - 18:05
15 - goal 17:00
20:18
age 14 - 19:27 turkey trot w/ dad, just being a kid
age 16 - 20:30 first day of xc, dad told me to try out
age 17 - 18:02 end of hs jv career, quit running
age 21 - 22:32 worst shape of life, wasted years
age 22 - 17:30 started running semi-seriously
age 23 - 17:10 hey maybe i can break 17
age 24 - 16:56 i'm pumped let's see how far it will go
age 25 - 16:22 stayed around here for a long time
age 27 (now) - 15:59
probably gonna quit again because that's a really satisfying PR to end it with
23:45 - age 12 Approx 25 mpw
16:30 - age 15 Approx 40 mpw
14:45 - age 20 Approx 60 mpw
29 low XC 5k age 12
14:16 on the track at 20
First 5k was about 19:00 within a 40:10 10k at age 19. Never ran faster, but beat a 20:00 5k every year for 33 years since then, just staying in shape for hiking mostly in our National Parks.
