My first at age 26 -- 21:3x on 30 mpw
My current at age 31 -- 16:34 on 65 mpw
For me, my first race was, I believe, in the 24s. Not so hot. That was as a freshman in HS. By my junior year (unfortunately my fastest year), my PR was something like 17:55 or just under 18.
I don't think I could even run 24 now, but I'm very out-of-shape and need to start running again.

Started running at age 27, first 5k in 22.30 on 5mpw and some cycling at gym. Now 4 years later 17.55 on 45 mpw. Let me hear your rate of improvement.
First 5k was sophomore year of HS and I ran 18:10. Currently, I am in ~16:00 shape (13 years later)
First 5k: 18:57.99 at age 14
PR: 15:07 at age 21
Now: 16:05 at age 29
I got down to about 18 minutes by age 15, 17 minutes XC by age 17, and 15:20 by age 19. Struggled with injuries when I was 20, then back down to ~15 flat shape when I was 21. Since then it's been pretty erratic, I'd love to break 15 sometime in the next couple years though.
I'm female btw
1st- freshman 22:40

Started running last summer at 30, no athletic background.
Self-timed 21:58 with my GPS watch.
Two months ago I ran 16:36, just under a year of 'training'.
32:04 (6th grade: ran 1mpw in PE class and convinced my parents to sign me up for the local 5k because a road race sounded fun. Ran the whole thing without stopping!)
17:52 (9th grade: ran 60mpw in cross country, went to running camp and had built up a lot of confidence by becoming the locally dominant middle school distance runner the previous spring (5:05/11:01))
19:53 (33 y/o (now): the high mileage as an early teen led to some injuries and my interests changed as I grew, I'm now a cautious low mileage cross trainer but am having a great time being fit and doing races and time trials when I can work them in)
Not sure about my first 5k, but I'd guess it was a bit under 18:00.
The time now is 8:27 AM ET.
First time 27 something, second race was 32:02, and now 17:49.
32:50 at age 45. First 5k ever after 1 month of running.
24:30 today after 8 years of running 30-40 mpw. I'm embarrassed I cannot beat the initial 5k times of most of everyone else on this thread after this many years of running.
8th grade- 20:10 for 4900m (our coach started us at the 100m start instead of the 200m 5k start.)
I'm going into my sophomore year of college and my best 5k last season was 15:10
My very first, at age 14, was 19:48. Now, at 32 I run 21:45.
However, between that time I peaked at 15:47 and maintained a consistent 16:40 shape for from 22-27 years old.
I am slowly creeping back down to fun run elite.
First 5k was when I was 33. I ran 26:19.
I'm 42 now and ran my PR of 17:03 yesterday.
Age 14: 21:47, XC, 30 mpw(?)

Now probably around 16:20 at 27, but haven't run a 5k in a while.
