Apples vs oranges. The logic totally works.
Engels runs cross country every year. He admittedly runs high mileage. He even ran at NCAA's in cross last year. He's run 5k's in track. He runs the mileage to allow him to get thru many heats and still be strong enough to still have gears in his final.
Alexander has never run more than a race or 2 in cross, either because he was hurt, was coming back from being hurt or they didn't want to risk it. He usually doesn't even run it. He apparently is a very low mileage guy. And has always been.
He has time for Coach Gagliano to build his mileage. It looks like he has been healthy for over a year now. In a year or 2 maybe we see him stronger and able to do this kind of damage when 3 races are involved.
