The Best Runner With No Biography

SOSullivan does have a photo-biography "running to stand still". I hate the idea of a biography written before the athlete is retired.

Kip Keino has a biography out there. I remember reading it in 9th grade many years ago (70's) along with the Jim Ryun one.

Anybody know the name and author of Moneghetti's biography? We roomed together in Austria many years ago and it might make a good read...

Never mind, I found it "In the Long Run" by Peter Howley. Now the bigger question. I can't find anywhere in the us that sells it, anybody have a clue how I can get it?

Rod Dixon doesn't have one, does he? He was fairly prominent in "Kiwis Can Fly" but I don't think he has his own bio.

Incredible career across a broad range: 1500m Bronze in '72, two World Cross bronzes, and a 2:08 marathon with his NY win in '83.

Just thought of Aouita. Not sure if he has one, either.

I didn't say that I didn't like the Snell book only that it was disapointing. I really meant that given the runner Snell was that it could have been so much better. In fairness it probably just hasn't aged well and reads more like a long article from a boys adventure book rather than anything else. Even having said all that it's worth reading. The Sally Gunnell book is another kettle of fish altogether - that's just dreadful. The book seems to have been written with a non-runner in mind almost completely. You learn tons about the minute detail of her relationships with her family, boyfriend, pets and all sorts of other intimate likes and dislikes - but shag all about her running. I didn't find a single enjoyable chapter in it.

Yifter. Even if it just told us how old he really was. If he was only 36 in Moscow how did he keep his kick at that age?

I thought that Liquori's book was disappointing. He was arrogant and made excuses for bad races. I'm not saying that bad races don't deserve an explanation- maybe something legitimately happened to mess you up- but he came across more as making excuses then explanations. Just seemed that even though he was a great runner, he wasn't a classy person.
