Please rate my progress for a 2:50 first time marathon.
Former D3 runner with PRs of 4:12, 14:55 and 31:12. Took five years off and started running again in March with the goal of a fall marathon in October.
I ran a 39:30 10K in March off of 15mpw, and a 37:15 in June when I was at around 30mpw, no structure.
I am not at 60-70mpw, looking to maintain and possibly build to 80. Most of my runs are between 7:30-8:00mile pace. I do a weekly 12-15 mile long run (which I will soon build to 18-22), and these are done at a progressive pace ending at MP.
I also do a weekly tempo (using VDOT) of about 5 miles a week. I plan on adding 1 interval session per week.
My goal is 2:50 for my first marathon.
Am I on track or am I running my runs too slow? I tried doing more of my runs in the lower 7 minite range bu my HR spikes and I feel I am not ready for that yet.
