What time do you think Michael Johnson would get if he just decided to run the 400m today?

With the same doping regime he was on in the 90s? Probably sub-45
If he still runs and lifts a bit to stay physically fit, probably low 50's. If he doesn't workout much, probably would struggle to break 60. Speed goes away much more than endurance as you age.

He could never run another day until he's 85 years old, and he'd still bust out a low 50s.

Every distance runner seems to believe this stupid myth. But the 70-74 WR is under 60 seconds, much closer to the overall WR than the legendary Ed Whitlock is to the marathon WR.
You are at risk of being outsprinted by a fast old man!
48.34
It really depends on if he does any running training at all any more.
If so...just a wild guess.... 53.

Maybe low 50s if he workouts on a regular basis and runs once or twice a week.
It makes me wonder if professional track athletes keep up with running after they retire? The same goes with other professional athletes who retire, do they keep playing their sport for fun or even do some serious training on the side? They are probably so burned out from decades of training they wouldn't even want to touch a basketball or step on the mondo.
52.34
DNF
Well he would certainly nip jamin at the line and then jamin would ask Michael out in a date.
I think it would end like this ..DNF
Please+1 if you like this comment. It would mean a lot to me.

It's a false beginning because its obvious he was using PED, so his 43.18 is an incorrect starting point. But to further this conversation, I would say with training and no PED probably 50-53. With PEDs sub 50 maybe 48.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
