All other meets should do the same.

No. Too many people swarming around made it look on TV like a poorly-run high school meet. The kids turned into Bombay street beggars.
No more ATL meets this year.
Fans on the field will save our sport. Kudos to Paul Doyle and his ATL.
they should have some meets in more northern states like Michigan and Minnesota

I wasn't going to go this far but the small group of kids swarming the athletes after each race got really cheesy and did look unprofessional. Having people on the infield wouldn't be bad for the sport but this setup just didn't look professional.
We want our sport to be taken seriously. Don't have 20 kids rush out to meet the winner after every race. And please let's see some celebrations from the winners. It's not disrespectful to celebrate a win and people love it. What made Bolt into a superstar? If he had acted like he has just completed a workout like all the athletes who won last night when he stomped everyone in Bejinng do you think he'd be the celebrity he is right now.
Here's what our sport needs. Beer and Gambling at the races. And for those who say gambling is illegal see horse racing. And btw horse racing is the most boring thing in the world to watch if you aren't betting on it.
Houston is the best track meet I've ever seen. The kids swarming DeGrasse, Murphy, Prandini, Centro Jr. will never forgot that moment for the reset of their lives. I'd like to see USATF and NCAA make it mandatory that fans, coaches, parents, etc are on the infield during competitions.
I'd totally swarm Prandini, except her 100m-400m speed makes me feel inadequate as a skinny distance runner.
Can you imagine discussing your day at the dinner table when you mention your 16 x 200 in 29s w/60s recovery and she starts snickering?
Spectator interest are the most important aspect of T&F which has been grossly neglected by USA meet. Spectators down on the infield, inside and outside the track lanes would help improve times.

Why do you think she would snicker? Sprinters take at least 15 minutes rest between 200m repeats and do a lot less than 16 of them. Different type of running, different energy systems. I remember the sprinters being impressed when we did those type of workouts and we had some very good sprinters on our team. They understand what it takes.
Funny
beer and gambling (possibly, though there are some potential issues with the gambling side) for sure, but what is wrong with the kids? Honestly, I think it would be pretty hard (unless you have a heart of coal) to not be excited by a group of equally excited children wanting to celebrate your win with you. It humanizes our sport, and also harkens us professionals back to when we were simply competing to cross the line first, not to make a living. i kinda miss those days, they were actually pretty cool.
also, agree about a little flamboyance, I would much rather see a lively winner than a "ho-hum" victory.
What kind of pathetic Scrooge doesn't want a swarm of screaming kids to mob them at the finish line?

That's fine, she's all mine then.

None of the above.
You can imagine discussing your day and your impressive workout with Ms. Prandini at the dinner table with you…except for the inconvenient fact that Ms. Prandini is never going to be at the dinner table with you giving you a cute little snicker. I am sorry about that.
You are delusional and sfsdfsdfsdf is also delusional.
They were both fun Prandini delusions.
Nothing to snicker about wrote:

Disagree--we used to do 10x200 in 30s w/60s rest (or 10 pushups) as a recovery day. Wouldn't be surprised if she snickered.
It depends on why they are swarming you. I didn't hear any of those little kids asking for autographs or saying good job or I want to be like you when I grow up. No, they were all asking "Can I have your medal ?" Can I have your race number?" " Can I have your shoes?" F'n greedy little millennials. Always wanting something for nothing.
