Recently got an injury, fixing it with a physical therapist. Need cross training ideas that require very little stress on the ankle. Found aqua jogging online, does letsrun approve of this or is it too hobbyjogger-ish?

Well what else can you do that better simulates running. You'll have to go hard and longer to mIntain fitness but it can be done
Lap swim if you have kahonas, otherwise whine and aqua jog like a worried little boy
Don't listen to them. Any serious runner who is injured will aquajog. You have to do workouts to get your heart rate up, so its pretty mentally taxing. Do short, frequent intervals. Its not hobby-jogger ish at all.
Do a hundred clams a day
Unless you have an Alter-G, aquajogging is the most running specific cross training exercise you can do. Wear the flotation belt for more specific motion. You may need to tape your ankle or wear an ankle brace initially; sometimes the water can "flap" your ankle around and aggravate it. Usually it's fine after the injury calms down in a few days though.
Thanks for the support, will try it tomorrow. I am also on the hs swim team, so is the belt necessary if i am a strong swimmer?
if you are lean it will be hard to aqua without belt.
The poster that said it is mentally taxing knows his shjt. I tried it for 5 minutes and it might be the most boring thing in the world. Imagine you were in a prison cell but wanted to run. How long could you run in one spot? How long would you keep up that exercise?
Yeah. It's like that.

You must be a really dynamic, fascinating dude grinding out 60 mins of water jogging!
all the best man, hope you get back to 100% soon
Maybe you should talk to that guy whose wife wants him to date her best friend, and show him how to keep it up for 60 minutes.

I aqua jogged every day for 60-90 min for 4 months. Towards the end it was so boring I would imagine just like passing out in the water so I could stop. My mind turned into mush. It does work though! I ran a race a month after and was 10 sec. from my pr. Then the week after that I pr'd by 10 sec.
Also for a little bit I used a belt, but then got rid of it as after awhile I needed more of a challenge. Without a belt is a much better workout and it is way easier to get your heart rate up.
I would agree with the other posters. It's MIND NUMBING. It's death. You just have to force yourself not to look at the clock and it goes better. I did 90 minutes of it on a few occasions. The key is to let the time dissolve.
It's boring as hell if you just straight up aqua jog at an easy and slow pace. It goes by so much faster if you do a fartlek like 2min on 1 min off by 20. You can go as hard as you want because you won't get injured.

You will, however, get very hungry.
