what are you getting at here wrote:
remember when Chris Solinsky said he was doing workouts to get to the point where he would be able to run a 3:55-56 last mile in a 5k
It was after that summer where he broke 13:00 a bunch of times I believe.
and then USA's happened.....
"Solinsky had closed in an amazing 3:58.57 for his final 1600 but it was not enough as Lagat split 3:57.80 for the same span. Solinsky’s final 3k was an unreal 7:37. Sadly for Solinsky, this would be the last great race of his career, as he missed the World Championships due to a left hamstring avulsion and would never fully recover."
it was a 13:23 race, bee tee dubs
what i'm trying to say is, no one really cares about 3:55 miles at this point of the season. good for them though, i could never run that fast.
You are sad and pathetic. Do you realize Solinsky's outdoor career PR for a mile was 3:57.80? Look at his IAAF profile. His indoor best was 3:54.52, barely better than the 3:55 these guys just ran. And that was his CAREER PR. These guys are just getting started.
Saying Lagat broke 4 the last mile of his 5000 is like comparing apples to oranges. He may be the greatest of all time.
No one is saying these guys ran a Gold Medal winning effort. They are rightly getting kudo's for running really fast mile races, in a legit, well known European meet, and taking 1 thru 3. AND being from the same team. AND repping for the USA with a great effort.
Belittling 3:55 mile times as "ho-hum" is not cool and shows your ignorance. Especially when bringing up Solinsky as a comparator. These guys at their young age would beat him in a race 8 out of ten times at the peak of his career.
