So, after 5 years of coaching middle school cross country, I switched school districts and got a new coaching assignment. I am now the head boys track coach at a pretty large middle school. I know very little about anything below the 400m.
I enjoy reading, so I bought a book on coaching track (Fundamentals of Track and Field), and it's fine, but reading about how to coach events is just not the same.
I have looked around online, both for streaming videos and DVDs, and haven't had much luck. Can anyone recommend a DVD set or streaming video resource that can help me learn the absolute basics about the jumps, throws, hurdles, etc? Most youtube channels are so hit and miss- there will be one great video, then 10 ones in a row that are more geared towards much more skilled athletes.
There are no clinics anywhere close to me, unfortunately.
Any help you can provide is GREATLY appreciated. Feel free to offer any resource that would help a new track coach who is very familiar with distance but not very familiar with anything else.
