Kinda bright
you realize wisconsin is almost 90% white right?
How is that sad?
How many applicants were nonwhite? How many of those people in the picture are minorities (you can't just tell by looking at them)? How many young Republicans are nonwhite? What is wrong with being all or mostly white?
These are all questions you need to ask and answer before you call this sad or not sad.

This sums it up pretty well. And the article is pretty disgusting.
A less diverse selfie would be the board of directors that own US News - all white Jewish people. Same with a selfie of the top 20 donors of the Democratic party who really run the show.

It is sad that a person in a position of power over a diverse population lives and works in such an isolated bubble. This can only lead to decisions based on what is best for the only a narrow segment of the population, whether consciously biased or not.. It is also sad that you need this explained to you.

Well, without addressing the question of morality or representation, at the very least this does not bode well for future Republican electoral success.

Paul Ryan is disgustingly racist! And in the NRA's pocket! We cannot trust that man to lead the nation, let alone help anyone other than his KKK buddies!
Here's why its sad wrote:

He lives and works in Washington DC. I lived there for 10 years. It is pretty diverse. Believe it or not, he probably works with people other than his interns. You get to be an intern by having daddy write a letter to grab you a spot. Then you get spit out into Capitol Hill with no career like everyone else. I am not sure why anyone goes to DC to be an intern. Stupid job. You make more at KFC and have a better chance of advancement.
I had buddies who interned on the Hill and the best way to describe it is like getting an intern job with the New York Yankees and somehow fooling yourself into believing that one day it'll help you become a MLB player.
People on the internet looking for scandals are one rung below the gollum.

Did you even read my post? I'm no fan of Paul Ryan. He may be a racist for all I know. I just think Hill interns are the worst. You have to admit that people on the internet looking for controversies are pretty terrible, right?

Why don't you ask, why are only white people working for you? Why is your reasonable explanation. 1) He hires the most qualified people (poor answer--only whites are qualified); 2) Only whites applied (poor answer--why did non-whites refuse).
Staff tells you a lot about a politician. Who supports them. Who they support. What their opinions might be as compared to what comes out of their mouths.

Then one out of nine people in the pic should be non-white. But, there are zero out of well over 100 people in the photo. There should be several random non-whites.

Fair point. Still, the impetus of my post was to share my disdain for Hill interns, not to protect Paul Ryan. Dude lied about his marathon time. Who can like that guy?

In all fairness, I count 7 non-whites (most appear Asian) and one guy who looks mentally disabled. Still, not a single African-American, which is troubling.
I think it may have been an unfortunate filter that makes everyone look super white, which is why even the Asians and the one Latino guy just look white..
