Finished top 10 at the World Juniors U20 Competition. Made some smart moves throughout the race. Pretty amazing time for her, Oregon is lucky to have her!

LRC Update: The mark just missed Alexa Efraimson's US HS record of 9:00.16. So she's #2 all time on the US HS list and #5 on the US jr list. The US jr record could go to the 17-year old down the line as it's just 8:57.27 by Ceci St. Geme.

No, Rainsberger ran about 4:11 in the same race. That was Katie Murphy running 4:11.

(if you don't know, Rainsberger is daughter of Lisa Rainsberger, last American woman to win Boston).

So how long after you graduate can you still set high school records. Serious question I just don't know.

Never heard of Ceci St. Geme, guessing she was never a world class athlete and just ran very well when she was younger. Why so much emphasis on jrs and junior records? So much emphasis on Grant Fisher and Drew Hunter when Sean McGorty ran so well this year and is just a few years older. Same goes to Murphy. No emphasis placed on him when he was younger than 20 and now he's the next great US MD hope. Who cares about 'young' times?

I listened on the IAAF radio. They never mentioned her but the second lap was outsiade 75 so I doubt the first k was fast.

They said the girl that won was a big upset who's best time was 9.24.

She was about 6:03 at 2K, 2:57 final K.

Nope. Similar age, height & weight, and running speed, but wrong gender.

Women's 3k was the longest track distance back in Ceci's day . . . now has been usurped by the 10k, 5k & Steeple . . . outdoors, no 3k races of any quality outside of national U20 champs, regional champs like PanAms, and World U18 & U20 champs.

Kate Murphy will have another opportunity to run World U20 Champs in 2018 but likely will choose the 1500 . . . she opted out of the 1500 this year due to Efraimson & Aragon, which was a wise choice

If Rainsberger is going to run sub-9 and try to best Ceci, it will have to be indoors . . . best opportunity would be NCAA Indoor champs . . . . Cranny goi pulled along to her US U20 indoor record last year by Dom Scott at NCAAs . . . maybe Cranny & Rainsberger & AllieO all line-up together in the 3k next March.
