On the NBCSN Tour de France show Monday morning, there was a segment about the features of modern team buses, with a video tour of the Team Trek bus. In the lower cargo area (same as Greyhounds) accessed from the outside, their bus had a full size washer-dryer.
Later in the broadcast, Steve Merino mentioned that he had learned that Team Sky has purchased an entire truck full of nothing but washers & dryers, separate machines for each rider, "that is of course so they don't pass any germs between each other."
Huh? That sounds suspicious to me. I have never heard the suggestion that contagious diseases might be passed from one person to another because their washing or drying was done together in the same machine. And even if it could happen, no problem, just run a separate load for each team rider--the support staff has all night and the next morning to run a laundry machine in up to 8 different loads.
And, WTH? Are men riding in the TdF while carrying contagious diseases? If so, they are pedaling those bikes awful dang well for someone that is sick.
This is very strange. So I am very suspicious. Somehow, though I can't figure out exactly how, this must have something to do with PEDs (drugs).
Anyone have any ideas?
