I have been running for about 4 years now 6 days a week on average. This coming year is my last year of my high school career and I've been running about the same times my freshman year of cross country (17:20, 5k). I've only ran a sub-5k 2 times my past season (16:39,16:49). I've tried so many things like hard speed workouts but that seems to only get me injured after a few weeks of it. I've tried working on my base slowly averaging about 20 miles working my way up to 35miles a week. I work heavily on core and only use my body weight to "lift" (push ups, pull ups, body squats). I'm slowly getting tired of trying because it seems like I'm not improving my time. I've set so many goals yet I've failed them. Is there anything I can do to improve my 5k time for my cross country season?
