I know there is always a lot of people cut at the end of Olympic Years and I was wondering if there are any big names that will be cut at the end of 2016?

There will be a bunch of Nike guys that will have such huge reductions that they will probably wish they were cut so that they could renegotiate with someone else.
Anyone that did not make the Olympic team.

Both Derrick and Chelenga will be stuck contractually in bad contracts making peanuts.

Derrick wins XC a lot, that will keep him from reductions, also does some stuff for NXN. Chelanga will probably hit the roads and clean up some dead money. Two guys who aren't in trouble basically.
Wheating looks a bit in trouble because now Nike OTC has a better 1500m runner who made the olympic team.

I think that his contract expires at the end of 2016. So, vaya con dios.
Symmonds, a former 800 runner, admitted that his Brooks contract expires at the end of this year. Right before the trials, he said he hoped they would give him one more year, but that wish (and the possibility that it would be granted) may now be inoperative.

A lot of contracts are written so that they expire at the end of Olympic years. Therefore, poor performers are often not renewed at that point in the cycle.

And you know this why?
Just because leer signed a bad contract years ago does not mean others have poor deals. Maybe they have an agent who knows what he is doing and protected his clients

There are no "elite American ruuners."
If you raced all of the world's best in any event 800-marathon, literally not a single American would medal.

By my eyes, the people that will completely lose their contracts. Some of those people are only recently out of college. The companies will give them time to improve. No one is sure how everyone's contracts work so we can't really speak to the reductions aspect.
Add:
Ashley Higginson
Stanley Kebenai
Sara Vaughn
Chanelle Price
Erin Donohue (no contract?)
Amanda Mergaert
Megan Goethals
Fun fact: Shelby Houlihan was U.S. #48 in the 5000 last year, got 2nd at OTs.
Treniere Moser will likely lose her contract or face heavy reductions. I wonder i Levins is in the same boat.
What about Lopez Lomong? His last few years have been a bit rough. If they haven't been dropped already Bumby and E. Heath likely will be now.
