Monaco is just 30 min drive from Nice...
The french minister of the interior has just declared that all public events will be cancelled in Nice tomorrow.
Not sure the Monaco meet directors will maintain the event.
Monaco is not part of France.
Monaco is a sovereign City-State, bordering France. It is indeed its own country, and therefore not subject to the whims of the French government.
The meet must go on.
You're right.
But they might decide to cancel it for security reasons.
I hope not. Want to see hoe Philibert-Thiboutot will do in the 1500m.
Yup, it's very near to Nice, so I'm not surprised if it was cancelled.
I hope not though. Want to see the epic showdown once before Olympics between Semenya, Niyonsaba and Wambui!
Rihanna's concert has been cancelled.
It was scheduled in Nice tomorrow.

I'm watching the main French sports channel right now and they're repeatedly promoting Herculis.
Monaco doesn't have to cancel the meet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was . There's really no NEED to - the violence is over, it happened in a different (albeit close) city, nearly all the athletes are probably already in Monaco.
I stayed in Nice for a month 3 years ago and went to the monaco meet. On Bastille Day that promenade is absolutely packed.
F the terrorists.
They better not, otherwise the anti-islamic vitriol on these boards will get even worse.
Tour is still going on today in France.
Official statement
The meeting will take place

Yes. I understand disrupting normality in the near area in the short term.
But you can't allow terror to be effective and disrupt everything.
F them.
Ever kick an ant hill and see them go right back to work as if it never happened?
I read somewhere that Nice is the biggest transit city to and from Monaco (airport to train?) so I imagine most of the athletes either came through the city or might actually be staying there since it's so close (although surely the meet team assorted housing for the athletes in a hotel next to the stadium)
This could be a factor although I'm sure most of the athletes got there Tuesday/Wednesday, and the attacks were just last night
I'm almost 100% certain the meet will still go on, but most of the athletes and spectators may find an alternate route leaving Monaco instead of going through Nice
It's good to be the co-founder, apparently.

Besides the terrorists have now admitted that Aden didn't have any drugs.
Im pretty sure isis dont even know or care what the DL is so no security issue and the meet will hopefully go on. Plus Im sure we would know by now if it was cancelled. Go Mo!!!
