It's good to know you read crap from both ends of the spectrum.

We need only two classifications. One with Y-chromosomes and one without.
It's not harder than that.
Not really that simple. Translocations can cause issues with the standard XX/XY classification, and some forms of pseudohermaphroditism can cause masculinization of an XX individual.
So there might be a little more to it, but it is that simple. Pure, unadulterated XX or compete with the boys. This PC-world, everyone has to be treated equal world has perverted and f^$%#d everything up so unnecessarily.

I'm transgender, but not transsexual. That is to say, I like being a man sometimes, a woman others. It's a gift, and I feel lucky.
I'm all for trans rights, but it seems that maybe the Olympics and other competitions should consider adding a trans category, for those who have transitioned to the other sex.
If I was a biological woman, I would not want a transsexual women in my 1500 meter heat. Let's face it, it just ain't fair.
See you in the ladies room. In North Carolina, of course.

As I said in a similar thread before, there have been women that are not 'pure unadulterated XX' and appear to be completely female to the point of being able to conceive children in the normal way.
I am not on a high horse.
I am on a pony.
Gallop Pony girl!
Prance Pony girl!
Run away from Alberto Ponytail girl!
Run away to the mountains Ponytail girl!
Ride Ponytail girl!
Go Ponytail girl!
With 1 classification, the trans-genders would not be competing either. Semenya is going NOWHERE with 1:53+ times against even high school men.
Why are you working so hard to make sure that nearly 50% of the population (women) can't compete, just so that less than 1% of the population may temporarily have a chance?

that doesn't work wrote:How is that a silver lining? Gender classification is a good thing. Real women are slower than men. Gender classification means they can still compete.
Perhaps we can have a special new classification system that allows doping, fake women, cybernetics, and rocket packs. Pass the popcorn!
So you think there should be 2 classes? Biological men and biological women? What about Male-to-female transwomen and female-to-male transmen? Is that two more classificiations, or they not get to compete?
I think my solution is cleaner. 1 classification. Will there be fewer women competing? Probably, but you yourself said that they are slower than men.

Yes, I'm sure you could run 1:53 with your balls taped to your taint off your hobbyjogger training.

99.999XX% of the population are not going to be able to compete as professionals in the olympics or world champs. Making these events just open competition with no gender classes will therefore not be preventing 50% of the population from competing. Virtually all of us on these boards are running in races and we are not going to be able to compete in the olympics etc.
Adding several heats into the olympics or having a soft qualifying time for the marathon of say 2h 45 mins would give more opportunity to more of the population to compete in the olympics if that is what you want.
The best argument for open competition in sports with no gender categories is because this best reflects the way things are for most professions in western societies today: women are not asked to have lower grades to get into medical school than men just becasue they are women etc ....
However, women are given lower standards to meet to qualify as law enforcement, fire, armed forces.

It's called the open (men's) division.

He still is much faster than the average male runner.
Just because he's not the fastest guy in the world doesn't give him the right to compete against women.
The men's event is for ALL men, and everyone else who isn't a woman, regardless of how fast they are.
