Move to Crossfit. Not too many Africans doing that currently.

Zero Native Americans made the USA team. Think about it.

Haven't Rupp and countless others spent every second of their lives as Americans? Are they not natives? Maybe we should do massive genetic testing and only those with matches to current Siberians should be called native Americans because their ancestors would've been here first after crossing a land bridge. Tribes that migrated from the south would then not be native. Right?

No. Chelimo was 3rd in the 5K. Korir and Kipchirchir went 2-3 in the 10K. Also Bor made the team in the Steeplechase. They are part of the WCAP program, coached by former 10K and marathon Olympian Dan Browne.
Sadly, LRC boards have been taken over by xenophobic and bitter white men who are trying to say Dan Browne is a sell out and that Kenya-born (but AMERICAN citizens!) runners don't belong on our team. Pretty sad and pathetic but that's what I expected from LR.
So if all the athletes that represented the USA in the 2020 Olympics were born and raised in foreign countries, scouted and recruited to run for US colleges, then scouted and recruited to run for the Army with the primary goal of going to the Olympics, you'd be OK with that? I'm sorry, but the system is broken.
The Great White Hope lost. So much butthurt.
Actually no american made the team as the only true anericans were native americans,
The only people complaining about this are ones that probably started running a few months ago. The names Korir, Bor, Kipchirchir, Chelimo and Mead are super familiar to fans of NCAA track, and it is no surprise that they contended and made the team.
If you can honestly say you would rather send Brian Shrader than Chelimo, you are a liar.
Korir - ran at Iona 09-11
Bor - Iowa State 07-11
Kipchirchir - Western Kentucky 09-11, Oklahoma State 11-14
Chelimo - UNC Greensboro 11-13
Mead - Minnesota 07-12

Mead has been in America since 9th or 10th grade and had a prolific career at the University of Minnesota.
Actually I believe he has been here since 9 or 10 years old, like 3rd or 4th grade. He's a great guy who has had *nothing* handed to him and I am happy as hell he made the team.
The army thing is a scam, plain and simple. Anyone who has ever been in the service knows it's a scam. Heck, there were times on deployment I had trouble getting in decent shape for a turkey trot. There is absolutely no way you have time to train (and recover) at the world-class level without being given special privileges.

Mead is an entirely different situation than the Army guys. I am rooting for him 100%, as he absolutely deserves to represent the U.S.. He came here as a child with no "running agenda" as his motive.
It would be interesting to see if people's reactions would be the same if a large contingent of Jamaicans gained citizenship and took over the US sprint corps. If Bolt became a US citizen, would we be happy, or feel like we poached talent from overseas?
Just a thought.
The only reason those guys re-enlist is to get citizenship and its a contract that you have to stay in for 4 years. by the way i know Bor and he is smarter than your ass. the dude has 3 masters degree(Accounting, MBA and Finance) and CPA. You need to read more about internationals enlisting in the Army, you ill be surprise to find soldiers with PHD, mostly those who enter with MAVNI program.
It's a good thing that the notoriously hard-working Bernard Lagat took the lead with a mile to go, to show the lazy white boys how to win a championship. Pre would be smiling down on Hayward Field for that performance.
I agree - Mead earned his way.
The Army guys earn more money than most post high school runners many of which are working several jobs to pay living expenses and training on their off hours, buying their own equipment and travel because they care to dream and try to earn a spot without drugs, "elite" recuiters, without their own personal massage specialist and pay for their own medical coverage.
The Army scam pays for the selected few to train 24X7 while they are guaranteed a steady income stream, medical coverage, free training resources and they get to go watch the Trials even if they did not qualify.
A VERY Significant competitive advantage over the 65/2:19 marathoner quailfier who made it on his own. But thankfully, several of those hard working young Non World Class American Athletes kicked Katam's butt at the trials - and yet Katam is still listed as a WCAP member - nice performance Mr. Army Soldier man - feel proud taking advantage of the system? Where did your coach fail you?
An those American runners are already citizens so a great recruiter loses his number one carrot to get them to sign up - expedited citizenship - and thus the program discriminates against American citizens.
An the egotistical army brass takes pride in buying an Olympic team - but if you are going in then go all in and buy talent that can actually get to the podium in RIO - according to "Alan" everyone waives regulations in the Army anyway - so make up some new rules and instead of buying a tank buy an Olympic Gold.
...i know Bor and he is smarter than your ass.
Conceded. Smarter than my head though... Unlikely.

All from Iowa State? That sounds like a really redundant and stupid academic plan, and I'm not finding any Bors with CPAs in Iowa-

Just imagine how fast they will be when they discover Crossfit!
No what I said is that the Army has waivers for various instances if waivers are allowed IAW the regulation. An example is Airborne School which has an age cap of I think 34, but is waiverable IAW regulation.
Alan
Stupid for you.
I case you understand everyone's academic plan!!
I wonder what you study? Thinking that you have a right to question someone intelligent.
Bor was a four-time All-American in the 3,000m steeplechase during his time in the Cardinal & Gold. The Eldoret, Kenya native finished runner-up in the steeplechase at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships with what was then a personal best run of 8:35.12, the third-fastest time in program history. During his tenure as a Cyclone, Bor also flourished in the classroom, twice being named a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
