Tell me about it. I get the idea behind proof of fitness, but the way in which it is implemented was crazy - every athlete negotiates their own proof of fitness but with no objective baseline, so one runner could have a much easier time meeting it than another.
The athletes also bear some responsibility in that I suspect they were likely optimistic back when they negotiated their proof of fitness, or they forgot to consider weather, lack of opportunity, sickness or injury.
AC needs to reconsider this situation in light of the actual situation and basically be transparent about it - invoke their discretion, hold their nose, and let athletes that hit standard go to Rio - even if they haven't met proof of fitness.
