In 6 months he'll be taking pics chest high in the beach to hide the gut

16:00/5K is only 2:15 marathon pace. But glad he's no longer low T.

Nice! Still good enough to make every d2 top 5!
Not quite. Ever heard of Adams, western, mines, Chico etc? All their top 5 runners are 14:30s or better. I get what you're saying but maybe high school?
Honestly, Ryan should focus on body building for a good couple years, bulk up, get his testosterone levels balanced out naturally from lifting and gaining lean muscle mass and then get back to running. I really don't think he's given himself enough time to rebuild the damage that he did to himself.
Give it a rest. He retired from professional racing, which means there is zero expectation that he runs "fast," whether that be at the international, national, local or any level.
Is there anyone here who wouldn't honestly trade their entire running career to say they went sub-2:05 or sub-60? (
I was just thinking you know you guys are right. If Ryan could keep this up and knock off another 20-30 seconds from his new 5K PR he might crack top 3 at the local yokal Summer Sizzler 5K....bwhahahahaha
Classic hobby jogger.
Hall has got to be the only retired runner still getting crap for his running times when he isn't training or racing even casually. Nothing like laughing at a guys times when he is pacing his kids.

sub 16 for 5K? Great. He could be competitive at my local turkey trot.
You do know Ryan's retired, heavy and running for fun?
Under the same scenario most people couldn't break 20 minutes.

Agreed. I guess if you cherry pick the most competitive 5k races in the country, then Hall's current time looks pretty uninspiring. The "local" 5K road races referred to throughout this thread rarely have anyone break 15 and usually not 16, either.
Hall has gained 30 pounds, is doing low mileage, and is simply dabbling right now. Get real. Stop hating. And get a life.
Was wearing in trainers?

Sounds like a great reality show in the making. Ryan gains weight, no running training, travels and races the US road circuit. Mostly hobby jogger 5ks with the occasional competitive road race.
Man vs Food, Beat Bobby Flay type show. Money for charity.
did he look relaxed though
if you guys can win your local cherry picker 5k's in a 15:XX you must live in some Ohio backwater, or worse, Florida.

An easy thing to say.
All I know is that I live in hill country, and it is also hot and humid here in the summer. None of our races around here are flat. None. The fastest I have seen is 14:48. I see 15:xx here and there, and these races would be in better conditions (fall or winter). In our July 4th race, the two best guys in the area did not show, and the race was won in 16:40. The course is very hilly--with a steep one near the end--and it was a humid morning, and 16:40 was a nice time.
Stop making sweeping and/or uninformed generalizations.
I heard he's getting all geared up for the Summer Fiesta 10K down at the local yokal kids park!!! Go Ryan!! I bet with a 16 min 5K, he's worth at least a 34 min 10K right now. That's AWESOME!!
