By the way - I know the comparison is not quite right, but a runner that won NXN and just came in 2nd at NCAA XC is hardly a novice...
That was by far what impressed me the most from the race- any talented college freshman can hammer a race from the front with no one around and drop a hot time, but Allie navigated a crowded field with composure and was patient enough to move only as much as she needed to. Looked like someone who'd been running rounds for years, whereas by comparison D'Agostino, also running fresh, was all over the place, out in lane 3, and didn't look comfortable at all.
