I was interested in the progress of Ms. Merino's run across the country and wanted to keep the discussion up. It looks like she became delayed last night with some trouble with her vehicle. I hope she can get back on track.

But Robert Young was able to cut across the desert and still put in his 50 miles that day at sub 6 pace. Why wasn't she able to duplicate that effort?
Thanks for (re)starting this thread. There was another one with a stupid and inappropriate title that asked if she was cheating like Robert Young. There's no evidence she isn't running every step. Some people asked the Brojos to change the title but apparently that's too complicated for them so they just deleted it.

I think transcon runs and other races or records inspired by Dean K are stupid and ridiculous. However, at least Keila is making an honest effort unlike that cheater Robert Young.

I liked watching Keila's progress, but the title of the previous thread cast a pessimistic light on the whole discussion. I think anyone who (sincerely) attempts a goal like this should be respected and given the benefit of the doubt (unless there is reasonable proof otherwise).
I also disagree with the people who say transcon runs/races/records are stupid. I can't see any reason why setting and trying to reach a goal that challenges yourself would be ridiculous.

I think it's obvious that RY wasn't really running, but I would be interested to see the location of where both vehicles got stuck to see if they are anywhere near each other. I think there is a guy who is attempting the men's transcon in the Fall. Peter something? Maybe he should pay extra attention to what his route will be along that particular desert.

It is in the desert southwest…which can sometimes get dangerous.
Here is a video made of Fred and me during an ultrarun we did in the desert southwest 3 years ago.

And there is yet no evidence that she is running every step.
We need LRC boots on the ground! STAT!!!
I bet Robert Young is driving the RV for her.
